37wks baby is back to back

Had my midwife checkup today and she told me baby is back to back. She mentioned I should sit on a birthing ball whilst watching tv, I don't generally sit down that much during the day so not sure that's going to help a great deal does anyone have any other suggestions to what I can do to move baby?

Also do babies generally move into preferred position in time for labour?
Thankyou

Your MW is right, sitting on a birthing ball will help move the baby into the right position. Can you make time for a half hour bounce on your ball each night?

My baby was back to back, and remained that way. I spent ages on my birthing ball and apparently getting down on all fours is also meant to help. I couldn't do that though, due to SPD.

Aaaaaah my aunt was a midwife for 40+ years and said to get onto all fours at least twice a day and scrub (for approx 15-30mins)... Awkward when you are so far on, but apparently it causes the baby to swing round, but you have to do it a few times a day to keep the baby in that position. (I'm pregnant with twins, so not sure it will work in the same way).

Babies will do what babies to do, the one thing you can guarantee about labour and birth is that it is unpredictable and every birth is different. Congratulations and good luck!! :)

Go to spinning babies website for some tips on how to get baby shifted

Both mine were back to back, I had sacroiliac hip dysfunction so couldn't do ball or all fours and therefore remained they remained back to back - no1 son was 9lb 13 and due to his position got completely stuck and my cervix couldn't dilate fully because of the position of his head - after 36hours labour I had a emergency cs. No2 son was in the same position and also expected to be a big baby and was due when No1 son was only 13 months old (they were concerned that the scar wouldn't hold too!) so I had a planned section for him. Surgeon said during the op that the scar would never have held during labour so it was the best decision.

My DD was born back to back, but it hadn't been picked up by the MW until just before crowning. I'd also arrived at the hospital fully dilated and had passed the amniotic sac, my waters did not break. I was told that as soon as they broke DD would appear, 2 hours later she did!

Fortunately I didn't need any pain relief and found being on all fours and breathing exercises did the trick. I'd read Sheila Kitzinger's "Rediscovering Birth" which kept me in the zone.

Try and do whatever you can to be comfortable and relaxed, a positive mental attitude focusing on the goal of your lovely baby's safe arrival should help.

As will the shed load of drugs they will offer you, if that is what you need to get you through it.

I'd been scrubbing the kitchen floor on all fours and had painted my house ready for Estate Agent's photos so had been up ladders for hours until my centre of gravity shifted! Keeping busy for as long as possible will really help labour.

Good luck x

Definitely worth looking into the exercises on all fours. I did a maternity yoga class & two women had back-to-back babies which moved to the right position following the simple exercise we were shown. Good luck!

Don't worry, DD2 was back to back. It was spotted late in my pregnancy, although I did everything suggested nothing shifted her.
I stood up to give birth as that was most comfortable.

Good luck with it and again don't worry.

Scrub the floor, dust the skirting boards, get out the smallest attachment on the hoover and hoover the house:-) A friend sanded her decking at 38 weeks and then weeded the lawn for good measure :), the ball worked to turn the baby for me but had CS anyway.
