Hi everyone just hoping someone can help shed some light on this for me.

I am 32 weeks and went into hospital on tuesday as was having some period type cramping. They did an internal and cervix was closed but they did a test called fft I think to see if i'm likely to go into labour in next 7 days, its came back positive so they keep me in and gave me steroids incase baby should make an appearance.
I'm home now and on bedrest but feel very uncertain about things. I'm still getting some pains although not period pains anymore.
Just wanted to here any experience of people having this test and whether or not they have gone on to have baby early.
Thanks in advance

www.babycenter.com/0_preterm-labor-test-fetal-fibronectin_1511.bc - no experiences, but this is helpful.

Hi
I had the same test - I went in at 32 weeks as I was having contractions. I was put on a monitor and MW palpated and confirmed that I was having contractions. Very embarrassing though as they stopped after about an hour on the monitor!
Anyway I was examined and the same cervix was closed but the test came back as negative. Registrar told me that negative meant 99 percent nothing will happen but positive meant 50/50 chance of labour - just explained it as the test was much more accurate with a no than a yes!
Hope all will be fine for you but I will end by saying that the MW reassured me when having contractions that I wasn't to panic, giving birth at 32 weeks is (as she put it) perfectly do-able. Take it easy and try not to worry.

Thanks, did you have your baby early debs or are you still pregnant?
I was a bit of a wreck before this not knowing when it was going to happen as was very quick with ds but now I feel a lot worse.

Hi
Nope still pregnant, coming up for 35 weeks now.

If it helps, I've also been getting period type pains pretty much on a daily basis - I'm guessing my body is just making a meal of getting everything ready, my first though so don't really know what I'm talking about.

I know it's easier said than done but try not to worry.

Thanks debs, I think its just hard to take in, I had ds in under 2 hours at 39 weeks so all I have heard is that it will be quicker this time. So hadn't even thought of anything else. Think its def showing me who is boss. Hope goes well for you! X
