Gift for 'naming ceremony'

One of my good friends is having a naming ceremony for her 6-month old daughter on Saturday. She's only invited a few people and my DH and I are attending. I'd like to get a gift but have never been to anything like this so not sure what would be appropriate? We are also really broke so I don't have much to spend. Anyone any ideas / suggestions?! Gratefully received!

Maybe a Heimess dummy chain or pram string? We often give a dummy chain to new babies (can be used for toys, muslin etc. if they don't use a dummy) and spend around a fiver. Heimess do lots of other lovely wooden toys/things in non-toxic paint that can be chewed endlessly. Always a popular gift.

A naming ceremony is basically a non-religious equivalent of a christening, so any gift you would get for a christening present would be appropriate.

I bought a really nice book of fairy tales for the last one I went on and write inside. Something they will use and enjoy when a but older

Little silver piggy bank. Nice and not too expensive.

a hot water bottle with her name on it? you could find a nice cheap one then stitch her name on? not so useful when her little one is small but great when she is a bit older.
or if you are really crafty google what the name means and make a small collage of the description, then buy a nice frame or put it on some sort of card for her baby book?

These are all great ideas thanks! I've never been to a christening either so was totally unsure, so thanks for the inspiration x
