I'm feeling pretty frustrated today! This is DC2, so I'm not a novice but I'm sick of being passed around!

I'm anywhere from 5-6.5 weeks (irregular cycles) but I am guessing around fiveish. I thought I'd get my name down with a midwife as I'm a teacher and I thought if I did it now there'd be a better chance of my booking appt to fall in hols (it was 8 weeks with DD).

Last time I made a doc appt. Doc said I didn't really need to see him. HPT was proof enough so he didn't need to do a test. See receptionist to do a form. I was in about two minutes.

This time I called surgery and asked whet to do. They said to ring sure start. I rang sure start. They said ring docs! I called docs again. Different receptionist. She said ring sure start. I told her I had and they had referred me back to docs. She then said to bring a sample in. I told her last time the doc said there was no need to test if I'd had a positive at home (I am now over week late and have tested every day Blush. She then agreed.

I am no further forward! It's quite funny I suppose but if it was my first time I'd be desperate to sort it!

It never ceases to amaze me how much of a shambles the NHS can be over something as simple and routine as pregnancy. How can it possibly be this confusing for so many of us?

The system is pretty Hmm where I live, and that's just the midwives rolling their eyes t how absurd the system they have to work within is. But at the very least with both of my pregnancies, I have called my surgery and been told to book an appointment with the midlife directly so there is consistency on that first appointment.

No consistency after that (on 2 pregnancies 10 months apart, MC for first one) but if in doubt, I tend to trust the word of my community MW as she seems the most on the ball. Unfortunately for various reasons I didn't have her for most of my early appointments so things were pretty hit and miss, but I seem to be back on an even keel now. Still lots of weird anomalies though - like I can't be visited at home because I live in Urmston and my surgery is Lostock and MWs are only allowed to do home visits in Stretford/Lostock. Dread to think what this means post-birth. If they thnk I'm trudging out in the rain and cold 2 days post-birth when getting dressed will still feel challenging I think they may be mistaken!
