My MW told me that at 25 weeks any reduced movement would be a cause for concern however - my hosptial doesnt monitier you until 28 weeks.

How long does movement have to stay low or non existent before they scan you for instance?

I am 27 weeks now...I think its conflicting advice - worry about reduced movement, but they wont montior you until week 28, why is that?

Am worried after gary barlow lost baby...

I have read several ladies who have counted kicks have then gone to hospital noticing reduced movement to find placenta failing or cord round babies neck. why cant they scan to see if anything like this is happening>

I'm not a HCP, but during both my pregnancies I found the following website useful:

Count The Kicks

I think when I read the NICE guidelines about this I recall that after 28 weeks any concerns over reduced movements they should monitor you with a CTG which is the monitor that prints out, but before 28 weeks then monitoring for fetal heartbeat with the hand-held doppler is enough to reassure. I'm sure someone more knowledgable will be along soon to tell you for sure.

My cousin had reduced movements for a few days at 26/27 weeks. She was scanned at 27 weeks, given steroids and then cs at 27+2. So it's clearly not that I'd you're less than 28 weeks they don't scan or monitor you.

There isn't a number of kicks to count, it's all about what's normal for your baby. My baby kicked about 50 times an hour, with increasing vigour towards the end of the pregnancy where she kicked non-stop for the last 2 weeks, others are quieter, or wake up at night when mum is asleep.

The only correct answer is that if you are at all worried, go in and get checked out. I had to do this and the doctors said they would rather see a thousand women who had no reason to worry, than miss the one that needed help.

thanks

mine was only reduced for one day and that happned to be day saw MW so she did listen to hb and that was very reasurring.

its still confusing though...my MW said they wouldnt monitor me before 28 weeks but call labour ward if still reduced next day?

maybe its on time....how long its reduced for...
