I'm 25 weeks, and my girlie is very very active, more so each day, could this also possibly mean something wrong? Like she's sufferring or unsettled??

If its not unusual for her you probably don't need to worry. 25 weeks is quite earlyto know their movements but if your worried please give your MW a call they really won't mind.

strawberrypenguin · 07/08/2012 15:24

It's a change of activity (either dropping or slowing) that's usually the worry.

aries24 · 07/08/2012 15:36

But could kicking too much mean something?

DS was very active until he ran out of room (and he still did his best then)

aries24 · 07/08/2012 15:39

Lol being stupid here but what is DS?

DS - dear/darling son - dd - dear/darling daughter - DH - dear/darling husband etc....

There's a list of acronyms if you scroll to the bottom and look at the links under the smileys.

My LO is very active still (33 weeks) and didn't stop moving when we were about 25ish weeks. She's quickly running out of room so kicks have turned into hard pushes and she still give roll a good go. I wouldn't worry, drop in movements suggests a problem but when I mentioned being very active to MW she said nothing to worry about.

aries24 · 07/08/2012 17:05

Thanks sparklekitty! I also heard a very active baby in utero means a very busy baby/toddler

I'm 32+1 and little madam is hardly ever still. Though I think I notice it more because I'm not particularly busy at the moment. I think the main cause for concern is if you notice a significant reduction in baby's movement or the pattern of movement, and it might be a bit early to have noticed a proper pattern to it.

I'm sure if you're concerned the MWs will be more than happy to put your mind at rest, the community MWs here are lovely x

mistlethrush · 07/08/2012 17:10

DS was not particularly quick to crawl or walk (walking 14.5mo) although he was sitting unaided at 4.5mo (and could lift his head off my shoulder on day one) but he is incredibly active now (7). Although, thinking of it, he was VERY happy playing with his baby gym from about 8wks Hmm. When I was pregnant he once kicked so hard he hit the desk and pushed me (on my chair with rollers) backwards. On carpet not hard flooring!

aries24 · 07/08/2012 17:19

Wow that's amazing!

yeah, this one (8months) is very very fidgetty. and was very fidgetty inside too!

don't worry, though - if it's normal for her, then it's fine - you should worry if she isn't always active then moves a lot in one period, or if her movements slow right down.

if you are worried at all, please speak to your Midwife.

rogersmellyonthetelly · 07/08/2012 18:20

Both my kids could have auditioned for teenage mutant ninja turtles when in utero. Both were born full term healthy babies and are now normal healthy kids, if a little energetic!
Seriously, I could count 20 significant movements in an hour.

aries24 · 07/08/2012 19:02

Mines more like 70 significant movements per hour Hmm

I'm 29 wks. My baby is ridiculously active, and I felt he/she at 11 wks, it has at times worn me out, my dd was much the same. She is quite high energy (not hyper though).

I'd say don't worry about it. My midwife said an active baby is a happy and highly oxygenated one. Saying that my mother said my brother would go bananas after she had had coffee, so she stopped (back in the day when there were no caffeine guidelines) so maybe something to look out for if you have any that is?

sedgieloo · 07/08/2012 19:19

aries24, I'm the same, the 10 movements in 24 hours, it can be that in 5 mins. I mean baby sleeps sometimes but its doing back flips in there. I actually saw the back flips on the 12 wk scan - literally.

mistlethrush · 07/08/2012 22:45

I could also count at least 10 significant movements in the 5 mins before I got up in the morning.

And he jumped around on all the scans. To the extent that the sonographer was having problems getting the images he needed.

He's fairly similar now he's 7. Even when he's got his nose stuck in a book he's got a foot kicking something

sammyleh · 07/08/2012 22:49

I echo a lot of you ladies here too, ten movements in less that then minutes, Im lucky if i get ten minutes peace with this little monkey. At around 25 weeks aries i noticed my baby's movements so much more than before, and i think it was because they were stronger and a lot more certain. It could be that your baby was moving as much before but you may not have noticed them as easily :)

franke · 07/08/2012 22:55

I asked the very same question on here when pg with my third a few years ago. As far as I know it's nothing to worry about. He used give me huge body blows that would make me double up with the force of them. He came out the most chilled, self-possessed little baby and has remained so to this day Grin

Good luck aries Smile

Love my little mover! Makes me feel so close to her!
