Cast iron stomach...

Hi

I'm in my 6th week and I've been talking about morning sickness with my DH. He thinks that I'm not going to have too many problems with this as I have a cast iron stomach - it really does take a lot for something to affect me, while he doesn't have the same luck.

So my question is... Has anyone else noticed this? Or has it not made any difference at all Smile

I am VERY VERY rarely pukey but from what I think was week 4 (I thought it was a rare bout of flu) to week 25 I would puke at the drop of a hat. Until week 18 I felt constantly and horribly sick.
I never usually feel sick. I can stomach the spiciest of curries with no problems, rough seas whilst on boats, cars, coaches, trains, mental theme park rides but for some reason pregnancy absolutely floored me in the nausea department.

Same as whatsoever. I have a really strong stomach and can eat anything, anywhere, anytime but too much booze or a mix of drinks makes me really sick the next day.

Unfortunately, every day of Weeks 7-18 of this pregnancy made me feel like I'd had a crate of cheap Cava the night before - weak, dizzy, nauseous and vomiting copiously and without warning Shock.

Every pregnancy is different though and hopefully you will sail through.

Oh please be prepared just in case you do get ms. Do not assume you will be immune ... Get the ginger biscuits in NOW!

And as someone says up thread, being sick is the least of your worries as the constant nausea will break your spirit far faster than up chucking.

I am 13+1 and felt slightly better the last couple of days. It has been so bad I have been weeping most evenings and going to bed at 9 just to simply not be awake anymore.

Still, can't wait to get my mitts on this baby!

Prior to this pregnancy I had only been sick once beyond the age of 6 years old (at 20, through alcohol Blush). When others get stomach bugs with vomititng, I've just had a tummy ache, I ate the same thing as DH on our honey moon which left him stuck in the bathroom for days and not right for a couple of weeks and all I had was one dodgy poo.

My first pregnancy I was nauseaus to an extent but never sick. Pregnant with number 2 now and being sick every day, thought at lesat usually 'only' once or twice and pretty much non stop neausea. URGH. Hate it.

Sadly, a usual cast iron stomach, or a previous non sicky pregnancy doesn't garuntee you'll escape. But hopefully you will any way! Good luck.

I don't get sick very often and luckily at 20 weeks I've not yet experienced and morning sickness or queesyness at all! However this could change at any point & and your body will do what it wants to do when it wants to do it. All of our bodies are different so all you can do is go with the flow!!

I have a cast iron stomach in as much as i don't vomit often, Probably twice in my adult life. However, I got morning 'nausea' which is worse for me than chucking up. I felt sick constantly from about 7 -13 wks. Never threw up tho. Just that awful feeling that i was going to. So much so i wished i could be sick just for some relief. I lived on twiglets as i found the dry saltiness helped...slightly. It was miserable.

I have a cast iron stomach but was sick from 6-27 weeks with breaks in the hospital to get topped up with fluids.

Trust me... it makes so difference how you were before pregnancy. You might get lucky but then again you might not.

I think I had the same thing as Spuddybean - I'm never sick or retchy in 'real life' and had no actual MS, but did have that horrible nausea from about week 7 to 12 that I could only solve with rich tea biscuits. I agree that I wish I could have been sick to get rid of the feeling!

Haylebop12 · 02/09/2012 14:47

Morning sickness is your bodys way if protecting your baby. By rejecting anything you put in. Therefore would have no relevance to how strong your stomach is but how high your pg hormone levels are :-)

Cast iron stomach here, however threw up each and every day up to and including day of delivery.

Strangely enough one of the few things I kept down were the uncooked prawns ...
