I'm out of touch, what's the current most reliable/early use pregnancy test, please?

I thought I was done with all this malarky but dp and I had a sloppy contraceptive oopsie moment just over a week ago and, after a bit of handwringing, reached for the vitamins rather than the MAP. I'm detecting faintly familiar busy ovaries, but I may be paranoid. What's the most sensitive test I can get hold of these days because I'd rather like to know for sure if I need to be tee-total on holiday? Thank-you

First Response Digi are very good because they detect HCG at low levels and then just say 'pregnant' or 'not pregnant'- when you are testing early you tend to get a feint line and spend hours trying to decide if it really is a line or an evap line so digital takes that issue away

Good luck :)

You could try first response - They seem to be quite good, but really depending upon when your AF is due it could just be too early to give you a reliable reading, i.e., may still come up negative but you could be pregnant.

I think most tests need to be closer to 14 days past ovulation.

Have a lovely holiday!

Clear blue digital gave me my BFP 2 days before AF was due.

Internet cheapie gave me my BFP one day before AF was due... I have read Superdrug ones are meant to be very sensitive on here....

LikeCandy · 07/08/2012 07:06

The superdrug tests (pink twin pack, two packs for £8) are v.sensitive.
They test positive at 10miu as opposed to CB etc which need levels of 25 or above :)

thanks for your help, ladies. Just thought I'd drop you a line from mainland europe to say it's a plus!
I expect it'll sink in by Christmas.
When I snuck into superdrug there was a similarly-aged woman in the line behind me. She saw what I was buying and whispered like a school girl,
"have you been reading The Book, too?"
I've never been so embarassed in my life! But maybe there's some truth in the hype.
And now I need to practise some good answers for when at least one of the not-so-little darlings I teach asks a similar question.
