I was going to name this thread morning sickness but that isnt correct. Ive just found out im pregnant with my first baby ( am so so scared lol) but i know that 'Morning sickness' can be all day long but mine appears to be waking me in the middle of the night.
Around 3am i wake up feeling so sick . I sit in the bathroom for 30 mins then im fine. i really dont mind as ive been trying so long to get pregnant but i was wondering is this 'morning sickness ' or have i got a bug.

Hi belle7, first off congratulations! I'm nearly 6 weeks and I've been feeling sick in the evenings, not so much middle of the night but usually when I get home from work and start thinking about dinner etc. Haven't had any sick feelings in morning (as yet, am so nervous about that though!), I think you'll find so many people have it in various times of the day. Good luck and congrats again

Hiya,

when I was first pregnant (this time - not the others) I would wake up feeling very sick - like you it passed after about half an hour. I just lay in bed waiting for it to go away.
I think it was my insides 'waking up' as they tend to settle when you are asleep...and the uterus pressing on, or affecting, the bowel close to it, which in turn made me feel sick as things were moving differently to normal.

What helped me a bit was eating last thing at night, so my stomach wasn't empty - and also I took medication before going to sleep, which I was taking anyway for the same thing, I just took it a bit later than I had been doing.

I found that this feeling came and went, and was something I could anticipate and deal with, in a sense - much more than the other type of feeling sick, which was more like a sensitivity to smell and would happen throughout the day, but went away at night. That's caused by your hormones - you might not get it, I hope you manage to avoid feeling too bad.

But certainly I remember that physical sensation of feeling sick when I was about 4 weeks pregnant - it probably eased off after a week or two, as I said, coming and going now and again till the second trimester.

Good luck x

I think that's normal too! I started going off things at about 6 weeks...still can't bear certain smells or places, it's very odd.

it will be a new experience for you, I think that helps - that you're not expecting to feel a certain way, so it takes you more by surprise. You will cope Ok Smile

A lot of people go off coffee/wine/chocolate (very sad - but I don't miss it at all at the moment!)

I had that I woke up several times throughout the night to be sick, but with me that didn't last too long, it was just at the peak of my sickness - 7 to 8 weeks. After then it just settled into more or less late afternoon sickness.

Congratulations and hopefully your sickness will settle down soon.
