...you hadn't gained any weight between 20 weeks and 34 weeks? And bump looks about 6 months big at most?

I have however gained 20lbs (which is ok at this stage I think), but isn't it a bit odd not to have put in weight for so long?

Every time I see the midwife I mention the small bump and she says not to worry as it's number 4 and the muscle are so much looser therefore my bump is less prominent Hmm

Is your bump measuring right for dates? Also maybe depends what size you are/were before.

At 30 weeks I measured 28 but don't think the bump has grown since then. I was 5'8 and size 10/12 at the start

If you're gaining weight and your measurements are roughly in line with your weeks, I wouldn't worry at all.

I think the change in size between not looking pregnant and having a bump can look way bigger than the change between small and large bump - after initially being told I was massive at about 20 weeks, people now (31 weeks) keep telling me they expected me to look bigger by now, but I've measured perfectly all through my pregnancy.

I don't know much about it, but not gaining any weight at all for 14 weeks over your 2nd/3rd trimesters sounds like it should be checked out. Certainly seems worth having your bump measured again, and potentially a growth scan.

Maybe give your midwife a call - and rather than mention the small bump (which is quite subjective, and probably something lots of people worry about), tell her about your lack of weight gain.

I have lost weight, but then I had a lot to lose.

With DD I lost 3stone and gave birth to a healthy 9lb 2oz baby. I suppose if the MWs are happy with the size of your bump and the babys growth then you should be ok.

N0tinmylife · 06/08/2012 13:26

I wouldn't be too concerned, but I would expect a growth scan to just check everything was ok! Has the midwife not suggested it? I had similar, in that by 40 weeks my bump measured 30 cm. All was well but I had about 4 growth scans to keep checking.

Your weight isn't really the issue. It's your fundal height that needs to be increasing. When are you next seeing a mw?

Thanks everyone.

Seeing midwife on monday so will wait until then, I think. Hopefully it just means I've lost some body fat Smile. I just feel so small compared to the other 3 - normally huge at this point!

I'm 34 weeks and since they started measuring me I've always been bang on, I'm going to see her tomorrow and should (figners crossed) be 34 cms.

My MW never weighs me, but I know from weighing myself I am still 6 lbs down on my pre pregnancy weight (had really bad sickness, only being sick once or twice now and mainly fluid).

I was a size 10/12 when I got pregnant, but quite heavy at 70kg (11stone) I'm now 67kg and I'm 5ft 2.

I just thought if your bump was measuring ok then the weight didn't matter. Should I be worried too?

PS> hope this isn't too much of a hijack?!
