Funneling at 11 weeks

Hello, for the past 2 days and nights, I'd had unbearable stomach pains which I thought were windy pains but when I couldn't take it anymore, I went to St Thomas's where an internal scan revealed funneling of the cervix. The Registrar said there isn't anything that can be done at this stage other than wait. He said he can't say for certain if I will miscarry but there is a chance.

Has anyone had this experience? I heard baby's heartbeat at 156bpm but he said not to get my hopes up. I asked about getting a cervical stitch but he said it was pointless at this stage.

I am still in pain but obviously most of it is on my heart. I have been given dihydrocodeine which is helping the physical pain.

Has anyone had this and gone on to have the baby?

TYIA

have never heard of this but didn't want to ignore. I had a threatened mc with DS at 14 weeks after a big bleed, and have also had 5mcs since so know a bit about how worrying it all is. Hope someone with more direct experience can offer some reassurance to you. Good luck, I hope all works out ok.

Thanks Jollster. I'm sorry to hear about your miscarriages. Did you get investigated to find the cause?

My best friend lost 3 pregnancies, before being diagnosed with an incompetent cervix( horrid, I know) She received a stitch in her cervix by her 8th week with her two subsequent and successful pregnancies. I remember the word funneling being mentioned with her miscarriages.
Please know my thoughts are with you. I also know she went on bed rest with all her pregnancies..xx

hi joyful. I had 3 mmcs around 12 weeks, then all the tests which showed nothing amiss. Then 2 more early losses at around 6 weeks. Most likely egg quality related as all losses in my early 40s, after having DS at 40. But am now 31 weeks with DS2 and am 44. Eeek. So happy endings definitely possible, i truly hope you get yours x

Thanks Cynner, I'm pleased for your best friend only Dr said me getting a stitch now will make no difference.

That's good news Jollster. I wish you an uneventful 8/9 more weeks.
