I'm another SPD sufferer.
It started around 26 weeks, but I'm now nearly 29 weeks and i've gone rapidly down hill in the last week. I'm now using crutches and working from home this week as the walk between tube platforms to get to work nearly killed me earlier this week. I have a private physio appointment booked for next friday and I'm investigating a osteopath as well to maybe see which works for me.
I can't be referred for any NHS services at the mo as I am moving house this weekend to a different county and I have to wait until I am there to register with a new GP and then get a referral from them, but I've read up as much as I can and am trying to go with all the recommendations anyway while I wait.
I've also ordered a pelvic support belt which should be here tomorrow - really hope a combination of these things can make it more bearable!
Sympathy to all the other SPD/ PGP ladies out there - lets just hope there is light at the end of the tunnel and the symptoms will go when baby arrives!

Ditsygem you might be able to get a referral through your midwife, having asked my GP for a referral I was waiting for an appointment letter for weeks so I rang my hospitals maternity helpline and the midwife I spoke to arranged for me to see a physio within two days.

My midwife has put ?SPD in my notes and referred me to physio. I have now got an appt but not til 5th sept, when I will be 35 weeks!!

I don't hurt all the time, but went to town yesterday and 10 mins into pushing the pushchair I was in agony and walking at snails pace.

Horrible isn't it?

Hi,

I'm 24weeks and think i have SPD, waiting to see midwife next week to hopefully get a physio referral. I'm pretty much house bound now, unless i push through the pain, finding it difficult getting dressed and getting up of the sofa, out of a chair etc. People at work comment on how i walk funny, but without a diagnosis i'm just guessing it is spd. Pain in my groin and under bump lower back...

Hi,

Do crutches really help? If so, how do they help? And how do I get some? I walk like an old woman, limping and walking slowly, it hurts when I walk and then when I sit down so I can't win. Commuting to London for an hour each way, climbing stairs at the station, 20 mins on the tube etc is doing me in. Last night my backside just throbbed until I finally fell asleep after taking some co-codamol. I have been suffering since 12 weeks and I'm 24 now and hating every second :(

The crutches definitely help. I can walk with very little pain when I use mine. Otherwise every step is agony. My physio gave me mine, they fit them to your height and teach you how to use them. I had the osteo yesterday and am much sorer today but she said that may happen. I have another appt next week so will decide after that if I feel it's helping. My physio has told me to avoid stairs as that's one of the worst things for SPD dating and just general advice that's been mentioned. Keep legs together when you can including turning in bed or getting in and out car. It's a nightmare and a horrendous pain that unless you have suffered people do not understand. My mum says often is it really that bad!
