Anyone thinking of getting a pregnancy pillow

Dont buy the mothercare narrow one! I had a mothercare one for dd and it was fab. Well stuffed, lovely soft cosy jersey cover, I was gutted when it finally disintegrated 4 years after she was born!
I went and got a replacement yesterday, got the standard mothercare narrow pillow, £29.99 Shock
It's lumpy in places, limp in other places where it's been folded in the box and the cover is hard scratchy poly cotton. Yuck. It's going back tomorrow and I am swapping for the dream genie one.

i second this. i sold mine on as it was so uncomfortable. the material was like lying on sand paper and i never felt the bump was comfy on it. must be better out there than lying on a lumpy mountain!

I am currently cosied up on my Dream Genie - loves it!

Angelico · 02/08/2012 22:06

Which one was it? Can you post a link?

I love my dream genii! Bought it two weeks ago and have slept so much better since.
A tip, if you can get it from John Lewis. It's £5 cheaper than mothercare and £11 cheaper than mamas and papas

DP just bought me the DreamGenii to celebrate moving into the second trimester - glad to see all the positive comments!

FluffyJawsOfDoom · 03/08/2012 08:34

I have this one - £16 and it's really excellent quality.

I got one in the sort of shape of a giant G so can use as a pillow and support inbetween legs - it cost £60.00 but I have to say it was the best buy I ever made ESP when I got killer SPD! It was like a little nest and even though hubby moaned it took up a lot of space in the bed he has already dug it our and washed it for me this pregnancy ready for later as even at 8 weeks my hips arent liking it much (have had both legs cut in half and rebuilt with pins plates and screws)!
You need your sleep when pregnant and anything that helps is worth every single penny

I got the summer Body Support Pillow from Argos, £40 and worth every penny. I wouldnt be without it and surprisingly, DP love it, he gets his head in there too hehe xx

I thought that the dream genii was too short [I'm only 5ft 6]. Ended up using another pillow between my knees. Turning over became a complete faff ! Comfy though, but changing the pillow case is a total production.

xmasevebundle · 03/08/2012 19:20

I got the one from argos and my god it works wonder i wake up in the most unlikey of position cuddling up to it!!

When i have the baby its staying on my bed!! It does support my bump and the backache stopped.

EmpireBiscuit · 03/08/2012 19:32

My dream genii looks like elephant ears and a big trunk - or per my DH a big bendy willy!

Badgerina · 03/08/2012 23:12

I got a Theraline one from Amazon. It's filled with microbeads so is mouldable. I have developed a very meaningful relationship with it. DH is a bit Envy of it actually...

I have a dream genii but I'm not a huge fan tbh. I do like that it's firm and plump but has soft fabric. However the bit that sticks out which is supposed to goo behind your back is useless. It's so far away from the bigger side that it does no supporting, never stopped me rolling onto my back, just sat in the middle of the bed and stopped DP coming near me. Actually maybe that is it's real purpose.

Having said that I will start using it soon this time, but mainly because I'm not spending more on another one.
