"mini" changing bags - surely that's big enough?

I've been admiring pretty changing bags.

I particularly like the pink lining ones as they are very girly (I'm having a boy so it'd be nice to have something "pretty" that is baby related).

this one I like. It says "mini", but it also says it can fit in pop wipes, nappies, a change of clothes and snacks as well as having a fold up changing mat and room for phone and keys. Call me naive, but what else really do I really need to take with me?

I used to take an weekend bag out with me with DD1 (first child so no siblings things to carry). It was always full and I used to have to repack it after every trip as it was always full of washing.

DD1 had bad reflux so I needed to take out 6+ muslins, terry nappies for major vomiting/under head in pram so soak up minor vomit, spare sheets for the pram, spare blankets for pram, up to 10 bibs, spare clothes (sometimes it was a 6 sleepsuit trip to town centre if out for longer than a couple of hours), spare clothes for me, spare clothes for DH if he came with us, milton wipes for change mats, baby wipes, nappies, baby wipes, her meds (needed a flask of boiled water for one of them), clean syringes/bung for dispensing one sort of meds, tiny bottles for dispensing other meds.....

I loved having DD2 who didn't have reflux!

I have had 5 babies and have never managed to get a changing bag yet. They cost too much and look awful. I have a big bag and have two nappies (one toddler and one baby sized) in and half a pack of wipes (which I use for cleaning everything) and a muslin. If I take a change of clothes (rare as happy to have a minging baby) I put it in the bottom of the pushchair or on the dashboard of the car! I am quite ....."relaxed".

Vegemite- I've got the same buggy, they are pretty sturdy so you can hang a bag with a long strap over the handle bar and the buggy doesn't topple over. You can put the bag in the undercarriage but then it's a PITA to get out easily (and u will need to access it loads!) defo go for a bigger bag. Go for a bag you really like as you'll be using it almost exclusively for the next 2/3 years. It seemed pointless to me to carry a handbag aswell as a changing bag- so my handbag collection went into storage for a while and I did miss them! I had a boring but functional boots change bag last time. This time I'm gonna splash out on a better one.

It might be worth considering your dh's opinion on the bag a bit as I had mine carrying ours a fair bit with dc1.

Things I wish I had known before children. Get a big changing bag. You will carry more than you imagine.

Also get a very small cross body bag for your purse, phone, keys etc. That way you can park buggy up with big bag and don't have to haul it around everywhere your children crawl, toddle, run off to.
