Crib or moses basket?

I was just wondering whether any mumsnetters who've been there before can advise about whether a crib or moses basket might be better for my needs? I live in a flat on one level, so don't have the issue of needing to take a moses basket downstairs when baby is sleeping during the day, but wonder whether the portability is still an advantage over the crib?

On the other hand, I gather a crib would last longer meaning baby could stay in our room for longer before moving to a cot.

Also, I'm confident I'll be able to hear baby from wherever I am in the flat, so is there really any need for him to be sleeping anywhere but our bedroom to start with? How easy is a crib to move (just across the hall)? I might have to have a caesarean but would I be able to drag it across my carpet if I wanted to have him in the lounge with me during the day?

Any other pointers gratefully received!

Moses basket.
DS hated the crib with a passion. I've kept it for storage, useful for keeping muslins and spare babygros in Wink He is only a tiny little thing so just outgrown the Moses at 5 months, he is temporarily in a travel cot with a clip in bassinet until mothercare sort themselves out and finally deliver his cot

I have a Moses basket; has always worked ok and then moved to a crib. For this my last baby I think I will be renting or buying a baby nest. I definitely want a side by side crib.

My baby is one month & simply in the day if he naps he does so in his Moses basket in the lounge where we are & at night he is in his crib in our bedroom

I had crib and Moses basket with both my dds. This time around we plan on only buying a crib as Moses basket didn't last long at all. I would never carry either of mine up to bed in Moses basket, I was scared I would drop them. In a flat I wouldn't bother with 2, unless you get them on offer

With DS1 we had a moses basket in the lounge, office, and our bedroom and he went in his cot around 4-6 weeks in his room. I would recommend a moses basket, if your shattered its so much easier to have a snooze on the sofa with the basket just there.
