Chronic sciatic pain at 20 weeks, need some coping mechanisms

Title says it all really. I'm really struggling with sciatica at the moment, combined with varicose veins in my legs and vulva (sorry tmi) I'm quite uncomfortable alot of the time. Paracetamol helps a bit but i'm a bit wary of just mainlining paracetamol for the next 20 weeks.

The problem is i work full time in a job that is quite physical and basically requires me to be stood up on my feet for 9 hours a day. The hours are also quite unsociable (either 05.30am starts or 11pm finishes) so when i factor in running around after ds1 in the hours when i'm not at work i tend to be on my feet for most of the day. I don't really want to finish work much earlier than 36 weeks beacause quite frankly i can't afford to loose such a big chunk of my wages any earlier than new year (moving house at the end of the year, ds1's birthday, xmas etc etc)

Anyone had anything similar? How did you cope? I'm going to see my doctor about compression stockings for me legs but its the sicatica that I'm really struggling with. I'm not even showing yet but know from experience my bump is ilkely to appear virtually overnight so i'm just a bit concerned i'll feel even worse in a few weeks.

Are you positive it's sciatica and not sciatic type pain? I get the latter really badly but it's muscular and not caused by the spinal discs. Physio regularly made it manageable during my first preg and taught me stretches to minimise it.
I think even if it is sciatica, that physio treatment will help a lot, you just need to make a fuss with your gp to get a referral or take advantage of private med ins.
