Anyone have spd again with 2nd pregnancy?

Hello!

I had SPD with my first pregnancy started late at about 30 weeks. Had crutches and weekly physio pulled it back into place. My son is now 16months old and although the pain is very slight I still have it. My physio told me how to pull it back into place on my own so I still do that maybe once a week. I can definitely live with it as it is (I do zumba, tap dancing, step class etc so it's ok!).

However, I'm thinking of having baby number two and worried that the SPD will come back early and much stronger, spesh since I still kinda have it. I've read horror stories re: surgery or being in pain for life and dont know if we can risk it. Sad

Considering adoption but it seems like a scary prospect...

DOes anyone have SPD again 2nd time round, how bad is it and did it go away completely after their first??

Thank you!x

Jen

Not me, but a friend had bad SPD later on in her first pregnancy and was on crutches.

This second pregnancy, it started earlier, and she was on crutches again, but now at 33ish weeks, it is not as bad, as she has started taking things easier.

I've only had one pregnancy but I found my SPD improved immeasurably when I ended up on bed rest (for a different reason).

Not easy with a toddler I guess, but would there be a possibility of resting a bit more if it does occur again?

Has your spd gone completely then? I'm mostly worried because it's still with me so very very likely to flare up badly...

I haven't returned to work and my mum is moving near us soon. so Yes probably could rest a bit. Absolutely loving my time with Winston though and dont want to spoil it with being ill+spd!x difficult decision to have a 2nd one. :-)x

Mine has almost completely gone. I still get the odd twinge in my pubic bone if I push the pram up a steep hill or close a drawer with my foot, and I can't lie on my side for long periods of time as it hurts my hip, but really I don't notice anything most of the time.

I understand what you mean about it being a hard decision. I think if you start doing your physio exercises early on and try and keep your pelvis stable, you might find it isn't as bad or you can delay its onset for a bit. Much better to sacrifice a couple of months of activity than run the risk of serious damage later on?

Good luck with your decision Smile
