Hi all, this is going to seem really silly but as soon as I found out I was pg (three weeks ago) I called my GP and they told me to go straight to NHS online and register myself with a midwife locally. I did just that, the website was very straightforward, and it said they would get back to me for my first appointment.

I'm going to be 8 weeks tomorrow, and still have heard nothing from them at all.. should I call or am I worrying for nothing? I'm just so desperate for some kind of recognition that I am pregnant and that I am going to be having a baby, I've been looking forward to this appointment so much (been TTC for 3 years, finally happened!!!) Also have been bleeding (red) a little on and off for past 2 weeks, so wanted to push for an early scan if I could.

Please be honest, tell me if I'm being silly - did you have to wait long to get your booking appt? Just worried that my name's got lost in the system somehow and they won't get in touch at all.

Morning OP. I didn't hear anything until my booking in appointment and then nothing until subsequent appointments. It's quite normal.

Congratulations!

I think a lot depends on your area. Different PCTs seem to do things differently.

Where I am they like to do a booking appointment at between 8 and 10 weeks to give them time to arrange the 12 week scan. I've seen other people posting with very different arrangements though. If you're concerned, there's no harm in chasing things up.

Congratulations Phoenix!

Just give them a ring, it is not silly at all. I most certainly would.

Each area is different with regards to booking in appointments. I saw my midwife for an informal small group session when I was 6 weeks (got my Maternity Notes then) and then she came to my house for my booking in appointment at 8 weeks. Had 12 week scan 4 weeks after that.

HTH :)

Thanks guys, I'll just give them a ring, it'll stop me fretting - if only for a bit!!

Congrats on your bfp. I think you should give them a call, but you can see your doctor about the bleeding. They might refer you to an early pregnancy unit to check all is okay. I didn't see my midwife until 11 weeks, and by then I'd had two scans already at an epu due to spotting.

Definitely give them a call! This happened to me and I ended up calling at 8 weeks having not heard anything (slightly different in that I was referred by another department at the same hospital as I am a regular outpatient but still) and they said I had 'slipped through the net' and that the system had failed to work so I didn't have an appointment after all! They were great about it though once I had called and got me in for a booking appointment at 10 weeks but I was pleased I called!
