dd1 - we were having dinner in London and I said I think I might be pregnant - we hadn't relaly been trying as such and had not been married long...he said okay... waited until her went off to football the next day - popped to Tescos - got the test. Did it and then called him and told him not to go to the pub with the boys - he had to come home. He made me do a second test cause he could not believe it.... lucky I bought a double pack.

Dd2 - again I said I think I might - had only tried the once that month.... popped off to tescos again and got a test. Did it and left it in the bathroom for him to check... he came out excited and happy.

Partly my own fault for not preparing him AT ALL. But I was one of those girls who would test as soon as she felt nauseaous. I'd been sick that day, but it was this time of year, so just assumed I had a bug. In the PM I felt well enough to go out, and by pure chance saw two dirt cheap P/t kits. Brought them. When AF hadn't arrived that evening I decided they were so cheap I may as well test...

Came out and told DP I'd done a test and there was a faint line and he just said 'We're f*cked'.

DD - we were told by the nurse at the IVF unit, who rushed into the room with the news. It was the sixth attempt, so she knew us pretty well. One of the happiest moments of both our lives.

DS (who is on the way and whom we conceived naturally): 7am, a week after my due date for AF. I had waited a week because I really couldn't believe it, even though I have a regular cycle and had a several pregnancy symptoms. We were both pretty shocked...

With ds I told dh straight out and he said 'prove it!' So with db2 I waved a pissy stick in his face at 6am whilst screaming. He just grinned.

I cracked and did a test while dp was in work, sent him a text saying...errrm, im pregnant. His very adult and mature response...."holy sh*t....woohoo, my balls work!!"

We had gone on holiday to Hong Kong. It was our anniversary. I had taken the kit with me as I was due on that week. Did the test, came out of the bathroom and very innocently (innocent?) said "I don't know what this means, am I reading it correctly?"
He grinned from ear to ear and said "That's the best anniversary pressie I'll ever get!!!"

kpnut · 12/03/2006 16:43

By the way have you told him yet?

What did you do?

jellyjelly · 13/03/2006 08:46

we hadn't really used contraception for the whole 2 years we have been together and took the attitude if it happens it happens if it doesn't it doesn't (had bad c-section scar infection that went through to my uterus which led to PID after no 2 so i didn't think my bits worked any more) I was excerising more and put the achey boobs down to not wearing a well supporting bra and my periods were irregular but did a test and was pleasantly shocked. I planned to tell him once he had wound down from work but i couldn't contain my excitement and when he pulled up outside the house i ran at him... preggers stick in hand and showed him it.... his response was 'who's is that?' my reply 'Jack's (no.2) who's do you think!!!' The look on his face was amazing i will never forget it... i have made him a proud dad to be for the first time and for me a proud mum to be for the third time. Although my two call him Dad and regard him as such (they use his surname)this baby has drawn us all together in ways i never imagined. We are all connected now

DS1 - locked myself in the toilet to do the test & stayed in there crying (unplanned pregnancy). I think he kind of gathered that I was pregnant when I wouldn't open the door & let him know the result!
DS2 (another unplanned pregnancy) - Took the test & was hid the positive result, as I was too scared to tell him at first.
3 days later I said "I took a test & I am pregnant." Then burst into tears.
His reaction was "I knew it."

blueteddy · 20/03/2006 18:08

Should say - took the test & hid the positive result. Not sure why the "was" is there!
