Baby's behaviour in womb compared to when born?

Do you think there is any similarities between how baby behaves in the womb and how baby is after being born? For example of very active in the womb then a very active baby or if baby sleeps all night in womb then a good sleeper when born?

Not at all. I was pondering about this the other day. No consistency whatsoever between activity levels in the womb and outside.

yup, very uncomfortable pregnancy, he didn't appreciate sharing my body space with me Confused - lots of harsh elbowing etc = impossible to co-sleep with him unless he's ill and lethargic, very affectionate but NOT cuddley and needs his space to sleep

DD1 was awake all night in the womb and this carried on until well after she was born.

DD2 was a dancer in the womb. Any sound of music and she danced and she is still the same now when she hears music (21 months) Can't remember her being awake at night much when I was pregenant and she was a good sleeper when she born.

So in my case, both dc were very similar to how they were in the womb.

Nope, no link whatsoever here.

DS was very active in the womb and is still a monster wriggler - it can be rather like trying to feed an octopus.

He also punches and kicks his legs much in the same way it felt like he did in utero.

SilkySmith · 24/07/2012 20:22

also never kicked (or violently elbowed) me in the bath, the bath totally chilled him out as a baby

Dd2 very lively and still is at 10.
Dd3 likes to stretch and still does at 22m

DD (3.4) was quite relaxed in the womb and never did any crazy alien type moves but was a total bugger to get to sleep. She didn't sleep through until 22 months (although it'd take a bomb to wake her now!). She was fairly placid, never tantrummed (just sulks now) and could occupy herself with a book and I never needed to baby proof the house particularly as she wasn't interested in getting into things she shouldn't.

DS (17 months) churned around constantly, throwing as many shapes as possible, to the point that I could actually see the outline of his body parts on my stomach! He was a great sleeper (still is) takes himself of to bed and only needs to be asked once if he's tired and he's straight up those stairs. He never sits still and I am constantly having to stop him doing things he shouldn't be doing. He is happy left to his own devices but can't be trusted! The house has had to be completely baby proofed with him as he is into everything! He started the tantrums aged about 12 months and I just watched with my mouth open in shock! Grin

Not sure if that proves/disproves your theory but they're both brilliant fun and I can't wait to see what number 3 will be like!

Both active inside. Still active outside and not need much sleep.

newbielisa · 24/07/2012 20:47

Very rarely felt DD in the womb and she's bloody made up for it since. She hasn't stopped wriggling, chattering, walking, running. Oh and she didn't sleep through till 21 months. No link here. Sorry if most of us have pee'd on your parade if you've got a quiet one.

Hermionewastherealhero · 24/07/2012 20:58

Haha thanks newbielisa- some of you have peed on my parade! Baby is sleeping all night and never wakes me up,(32weeks) I have 2 friends who had the same during pregnancy and their babies slept very well do I was kind of hoping (but know really that it is just the wishful thinking of a first timer!)

LO had hiccups a lot while in the womb...and still has them a lot now at 13 weeks old! Sometimes it lasts for about 30 minutes!
