TTC immediately after a mc

Hello

I had an early mc, which finished last week. DH and I have decided to continue to ttc straight away. I know that this wont be what everyone does but it feels right for us.

So I was wondering if anyone has done this and had a positive outcome? Does anyone have any tips to work out ovulation? Does anyone know how soon I might be ovulating? I've been have quite a bit of cm since yesterday.

I had a mc at 6 weeks. Didn't use contraception, had a period almost exactly 4 weeks after the bleeding from mc stopped. Didn't have another period and am now 36 weeks pregnant so I must have started ovulating right away.

Any advice that says wait 3 months is so that it makes it easier to date a pregnancy afterwards and I don't believe is for medical reasons so I would start trying whener you feel ready. Best of luck!

I had a missed mc and started trying again straight away. Now have 2 gorgeous dcs.

I waited one cycle before trying following a MMC at 10 weeks and an ERPC. Had a huge amount of bleeding in the first trimester when I did get pregnant, which I don't know if it was related or not. I also had a lot of pregnancy-related anxiety and depression - it's not just about physical healing, you need to think if you're emotionally ready too.

YoulllaughAboutItOneDay · 22/07/2012 21:37

I did. I had a normal period about 3 weeks after the bleeding ended, and conceived on my next cycle (which was the first time I ovulated after the MC - my signs are fairly obvious).

I have read research which suggests that, actually, there is no physical need to wait to TTC at all. For dating purposes waiting for one period might be a good idea, but the three month thing has apparently been disproved and there may even be a fertility 'bounce back' effect that makes it easier to conceive in the first couple of months. Of course, there is also the emotional side to consider, but only you are in a position to know that.

With DD2 had mc no period in between and became pregnant. Caused a few questions re LMP and EDD.

I had a mc and started trying straight away. Ovulated 2 weeks after and fell pregnant. Dc is now 2.

Dating is hit and miss but we just made the assumption that it was just like a normal cycle. Used that as an estimate till the dating scan.

Good luck!

I had an early mc last august, got bfp last september, and am typing this whilst feeding 6 week old DD :)

Miscarried at 7 weeks and 5 weeks later felt nauseous. Bought pregnancy test and it was positive. At first doctor thought I still had old hormones from previous pregnancy - but they were new ones.

The result is sat beside me watching Disney channel!

Thank you everyone. I am hoping that we will be able to get a bfp before af comes along. We are just going to DTD regularly and hope for the best! It helps to hear all your positive stories.

I had a MMC at 12 weeks & we started TTC straight away. I wasn't emotionally ready and after 3 months of trying was diagnosed with depression so we stopped TTC for 3 months.

Got my BFP on the first month of trying again, which was a a total of 7.5 months after the MMC. 29 weeks pregnant at the mo and all is well.

I think if your body AND emotions are ready it is very possible to conceive straight away & anecdotally, there seems to be a fertility boost for the 1-2 months post MC.

BedHog · 23/07/2012 11:23

I have to say it does help if you are actually pregnant on what would have been the due date of your MC pregnancy. DD was born a year to the day after the scan where we found out the embryo had died. Made that date a happy one again!

Good luck, hope you get your bfp soon and a successful pregnancy.

Hi Woody, sorry for your loss.

We have 2DD already and mc at 7 weeks in February. Fell pregnant straight away (ovulated about 3 weeks after mc) but sadly mc'd that one at 5/6 weeks at the end of march. Midwife said that as the bleeding from first mc had been really heavy it probably just didn't have anything to burrow into properly. We decided to leave it a cycle, to let my body heal and then fell pg straight away on the first cycle trying. I'm now 13+3 and all seems well so far - fingers crossed!

I personally only felt emotionally better about the mc's once pregnant again. Goodluck!!

I had 3mc. Waited a month after first and second as mw said was easier to date. Third time I was impatient and just wanted to get on straight away. I conceived immediately and am now 39+2. Dd1 was conceived the first month after first mc

Midgetm · 23/07/2012 15:51

I conceived DD in the WTF cycle after a long and complicated missed miscarriage (so no AF but I did get some spotting a bit early so BFP was a total surprise) . Like Pickle says the main reason they say wait is because of dates. It was the right for thing for me - you know when it isn't, sometimes you need a bit of time, sometimes it makes you feel better to take control and get cracking again!. Good luck and sorry for your loss.

Thank you everyone. It just feels right for us to tic straight away. The thing that I am finding confusing is that I seem to be having ewcm already, although it I use first day of bleeding as first day of af on mumsnet ovulation calculator, my fertile period starts tomorrow. Do you think this is possible or do you think it's too soon after the mc to be ovulation?
