Booking-in appointment with midwife??

Hi, I'm 8w2d and have my first midwife appointment on wednesday, when I'll be 8w6d. I have 2 questions:

My appointment was meant to be at 8 weeks but given that I'm having it closer to 9, does that mean everything from here onwards will be late? Things like scans etc. I know it's only a little wait but every day feels like a month at the moment!

Secondly, does DH need to be at the appointment? He'll have his son with him so we'd need to find someone to look after him if DH has to come too. When I rang up they didn't say anything about it so I'm guessing not, but I've also heard people saying the midwife wanted the father's medical history too.

I know these are only little questions but I feel silly asking then in RL!

Thanks

No and no :-)

I don't think that anything else will be later - I didn't have my booking in appointmet until 8 weeks and my scan was at 12+4. My midwife appointments at my GPs are independent from my scans at the hospital in any case.

I went on my own to the booking in appointment. They asked a few questions about DH and his family such as are there any multiple pregnancies, heart problems etc. I would say absolutely no need for your DH to attend. It was a long wait, slightly boring long questions and a wee and blood test!

I don't it will mean scans will be late.

Your DP doesn't need to be there but make sure you get a family history from him, illnesses in him, his siblings and parents.

Good luck!

does that mean everything from here onwards will be late?
No, although like this appointment, some may not happen exactly when you expect them to (e.g. '12 week scan' may actually be at 11+2 or 13+4) This isn't because your appointment is 'late', just because of the way appointments work and because there will be a range of dates when it's 'safe' to have the meetings/scans. BTW - your baby probably won't turn up exactly when expected either Grin 37-42 weeks is considered 'term'

Secondly, does DH need to be at the appointment?
Nope, but he can be if you want him to be. DP found most midwife apps really boring, although he liked hearing the heartbeat (at around 16 weeks I think)

I had my booking in appt for this pregnancy at 11+3 and scan at 12+2, but my surgery makes you see the GP first and they referred me to the mw and for a scan simultaneously so I wasn't waiting for the mw to refer me for a scan iyswim.

My DP wasn't there for the booking in appt this time, but I knew the answers to all the questions about his and his family's medical history.
