Does big for dates automatically make birth high risk?

I'm expecting my 1st baby and am above average on my bump measurements so sending me for growth scan. Really want to give birth at midwife led unit. Will I still be allowed to if predicted weight is big? How accurate can they be!?

Don't worry too much. The bump measurements are not very accurate. With DS1 I kept getting sent back for growth scans as his head looked big, then my bump big, then his legs long etc etc. I had planned a home birth, when they predicted 11lb+ they suggested that I should go for hospital instead (but certainly did not insist). In the end, I had him in the midwife bit in the hospital, just on G&A and he was 8lb 13 (75 centile) so the ultrasound growth scans not that accurate either.

Ironically with DS2 I was sent for scans because of measuring small-for-dates and he came out 8lb 8oz.

From what I've heard, they are more worried about very small looking / not growing babies than biggish looking ones.
