Bikini line and pregnancy

I had my bikini line sugared throughout my last pregnancy with no ill effects but have had really bad swelling and bruising after sugaring and waxing this pregnancy.

What are the alternatives? I'm wary of IMAAC because it smells so evil but what do others think?

I read that Immac is a bad idea because it uses some fairly toxic chemicals. It's a good old Bic razor for me!

Never sure whether shaving rash looks worse than a hairy bikini line or not. On the plus side I won't be able to see it soon so will be in blissful ignorance ;-)

I use a Wilkinson Sword bikini trimmer razor thingy, so just trim my bikini line. I haven't had any issues with cutting myself and don't tend to get rashes.

I use one of these: m.tesco.com/mt/www.tesco.com/direct/babyliss-battery-bikini-trimmer/211-1329.prd

It's so easy to use and when I get too big DP will help me Smile

I get terrible shaving rash and immac's a faff now I'm in tri 3, so I'm going au naturel with DH's blessing Shock partly because he's desperate to know just how bushy it can get Blush :o

MissPollysTrolleyed · 18/07/2012 17:02

Grin @ Fluffy. My DH knows just how bushy mine can get and none of us want to go there again! Particularly me as I like to go swimming and hate to think that there are rogue hairs peeking out of my bikini bottoms.

I'm know it's silly but I also want to be nice and neat at the birth. I know everyone says that you won't care when the time comes but this is my second baby and I did care the first time!

Tempted by the Babybliss but always thought that shaving = stubble and quicker re-growth.

I am 36 weeks and have been waxed the whole time through. I had a wax yesterday and have to say it was more painful than usual. Think that might be my last before baby appears, as I am worried the pain might set me off !

frogalou · 18/07/2012 21:39

I am 28 weeks and I get it waxed. I can't really reach down there, or see it from above, so shaving is not an option! It is a bit more painful than usual to have it waxed but my beautician is super fast, so I don't mind.

ArtyJennie · 18/07/2012 22:23

I haven't seen mine in ages- living in ignorant bliss :) i tried to have a trim a while back- it was a right old faff- I had a free standing mirror in front of the loo (so i could actually see past the massive bump) while I sat on it with a pair of scissors- I came v close to cutting my lady bits!

The result was somewhat patchy! Lol. I may try again in a few weeks near d-day. I'll razor the edges this time too. It's got so bad I'm embarrassed to go to a propper beautician. Oh well :)

Nancy54 · 19/07/2012 08:27

i have abandoned. Can't see it anymore anyway!

HaggisNeepsTatties · 19/07/2012 11:41

I get mine hot waxed which is less painful than strip waxing - may be worth finding out if someone in your area does that.

HaggisNeepsTatties · 19/07/2012 11:42

Here's a video comparing the two...

woopsidaisy · 19/07/2012 12:01

I usually use an epilator, but can"t see what I'm doing anymore, so used Veet recently. It is starting to grow back now, so am getting bikini line waxed this pm...at half six. Where ever you are in the UK you'll hear me squeal! Hate waxing, but think I should actually make the effort seeing as people are actually going to be looking at it!Grin
Due in 3 weeks,so hopefully will last that long with a bit of trimming....

Mothpop · 19/07/2012 21:32

Just had my pre-delivery wax (38 + 5) and a very interesting chat with the beautician! She used basic hot wax however did mention that that wax that is used for Brazilian (landing strip) and Hollywood (all off) waxes only sticks to the hairs and not to the skin. It may be worth asking if the beautician can use this type instead?
I'm not racey enough to consider a redesign/complete removal of everything but I did get the impression that the ladies in the rest of the world are!
