Anyone finding that Ed Sheeran song Small bump very hard to listen to? I'm 28 weeks and everytime I hear it I blub like a child - wailing, snot and everything!

It's really beautifully touching but has very sad lyrics, must be incredibly hard for anyone who's been through a miscarriage to listen to :(

Just had to get it out and let others know - be warned that it can cause uncontrollable crying - very embarrasing if you're in public or at work and can't control it!

Good god woman, I think I'm going to become dehydrated!

nosleepwithworry · 16/07/2012 19:11

I blub like a twat.
Took me completely by surprise, bought the cd, put it on in the kitchen while making pasta for tea, listened to it, broke my heart.
Ds asking whats wrong mummy. Sad

loads of miscarriages here, so hit a chord with me.

Yeahthatsnotgonnahappen · 16/07/2012 19:20

Oh dear. I'm not even pregnant but that had me in tears. So beautiful. Even dh had a tear in his eyes.

MikeLitoris · 16/07/2012 19:21

Im not pg and i still blub when i hear it.

Also a recurrent mc sufferer so nit sue if that makes it worse.

Spice17 · 16/07/2012 19:22

Prickly, I know what you mean, no wonder I was so bloody thirsty today!

Nosleep - weird thing is, don't even like Ed Sheeran really, heard that song and thought 'Oh that's really nice' then listened to lyrics and thought 'Oh my christ' just too unbearable for words. I too was listening to it whilst crying into my simmering curry last night pretended it was the onions

Mike, I'm sure it really hits a nerve for those of you who have sadly suffered MC, so sad. Even not having had to endure that tragedy, still absolutely breaks my heart.

Not sure if it's a song from personal experience for him but quite nice listening to a song about something other than love or some other predictable lyrical nonsense :)

Just cried my eyes out, thanks guys...

Reminds me of my never-to-be daughter, the pain is still so fresh even five years later.

I hope that the new life growing inside me now will change the way I listen to that song.

MikeLitoris · 16/07/2012 19:30

I've no idea if it was written from experience or not but I would think it was.

:(

I'm filling up thinking of it

TitsalinaBumSquash · 16/07/2012 19:34

It was written for a close friend of his that recently suffered a mc at 20 weeks Sad

DP and I blubber at that song, do did MIL.

First time we heard it I was 14 weeks, ended up in A&E with bleeding (was fine but lost our last baby so we were extra panicked) MIL sat there saying " that bloody song...."

BBisHavingAnotherBBaby · 16/07/2012 19:35

Try singing along going down the motorway and only THEN truly twigging the lyrics!! I blubbed a lot!

I cant decide whether he means miscarriage or abortion though? Hes only so young i cant imagine it being his own experience? Maybe im Naive!

BBisHavingAnotherBBaby · 16/07/2012 19:36

Ahh tits is that def true? Its a really touching song!

I dont like to think about it at the moment as it doesnt take much to set me off

TitsalinaBumSquash · 16/07/2012 19:41

He has said in interviews that's what it's about but he chose to write it from a parents pov.
The video is also very sad.

Pickles77 · 16/07/2012 19:43

I sob... Gets me every time Smile

Spice17 · 16/07/2012 19:50

Tits, glad it was all OK. PS - Me and my mum used to call my Stepmum Titsalina, never heard anyone else say it before!!

I'd never heard it before, have just watched the video, and am now blubbing!

BBisHavingAnotherBBaby · 16/07/2012 19:56

Ahh its sort of nice to know he didn't make it up, hope it helped his friend

I got the album last year a few months after my MC. The last couple of lines passed me by to start with but someone pointed them out to me & after that I felt like it was speaking directly to me. Beautiful but very sad.

Beans1977 · 18/07/2012 11:40

I had a MC at 14w last year and lost a twin in this pregnancy and like other posters I find the song really moving. I'm not a particular fan of Ed Sheeran but there's a very honest and truthful resonance in this song. The music industry seems to detail so many of our life experiences, but I think MC is still something of a taboo - although I'm hopeful this will begin to change now mega stars like Jay-Z are daring to bare their scars. Full marks Ed.
