Hi all, just as it says really, preg with dc3 and so far only bought a couple of outfits. I found out weeks ago that I'm having another wee girl :) but I am still scared to get pink things just incase they're wrong...lol! It was a private scan though. Am I late in starting to buy things??

Plus, just to add, I have dd, 11 and ds, 5 and have kept nothing of theirs, so starting from scratch! Also beginning to worry about how much things are gonna cost, on my own with this pregnancy

I'm 26 with 2nd aswell and found it is my 2nd girl - I don't believe them either!! Haha
I haven't bought anything yet but I've only got a 17 month gap so will be able to reuse LOADS!
Have you tried buying bundles of eBay?

sammyleh · 16/07/2012 17:04

I'm also 26 weeks and been told we're having a girl. I've bought a few girly things but mostly its all neutral or unisex. I've been getting things here and there and certainly haven't gone mad just in case :) xx

Notmyselfatall · 16/07/2012 17:14

Not tried eBay bundles biggem :) congrats ladies on ur girls :) I am just too scared to get pink just incase lol. Have bought outfits n stuff n my pram is pink! Oops! Lol.

If you have a pram and outfits I'd say you were buying things. I have about 7 weeks to go and I don't have a pram or a cot or a nursery or even a muslin sqaure.

SurprisinglyCurvaceousPirate · 16/07/2012 18:32

You've bought a pink pram but don't want to buy pink clothes????

WillowTheWitch · 16/07/2012 18:33

24 weeks here with dc2 . I have a DD 7 and found out I'm having a ds this time :) I hadn't bought much but DSis/sil and mil had bought us a few bits and bobs all in White or lemon so DH and I went out last week and bought a wee bundle of blue stuff Grin
Not buying any more blue though just in case, and won't be buying any of the big stuff in blue like pram and car seat . I'm also starting from scratch which is a nightmare !!

WillowTheWitch · 16/07/2012 18:33

What are eBay bundles?

EmmaNicole · 16/07/2012 18:49

Starting from scratch is great! I'm 19 weeks with DC 2, DD is 3. Moved to France 12 months ago and got rid of all baby stuff as didn't want to bring it on the off-chance we'd get pregnant again. I feel like I've got the benefit of experience this time and I'm going to use it to buy wisely ...not buy loads of crap I don't need, but invest in the few key pieces.

elizaregina · 16/07/2012 19:38

baby sales - our local paper lists them, tons of fab stuff for pennies, people are desperate to shift it - i got some lovley tights - never worn from next about 5op, loads of vests, a fab moses basket only £6 but the man was offering me £3! car boot sales, tk maxx...

ebay as mentioned...

mrswoz · 16/07/2012 19:56

Are there Facebook selling groups in your local area, we've got loads down our way and we are not exactly densely populated, so perhaps you have got similar groups near you? People post things on a wall for sale, with pictures and descriptions, then you can look before you decide whether to go and collect/meet them to buy the stuff. I have sold all my DS's clothes on my local groups, saved me a fortune on eBay/PayPal fees, not to mention postage. Have bought a fair few things for this baby and my older DD too.

Surprisinglycurvaceous, haven't bought the PINK PRAM, put money on it and have been told by the store that it can be swapped on the off chance the baby isn't a girl Hmm and what I said was I didn't want to go mad buying everything pink ..... Can do without unhelpful posts! Anyway, ty for all yr lovely posts. I do have Fb selling pages :) might take a little look. Tomorrow I am
Going to buy my moses basket and other things....Gettn excited now! Misscoffee, when are you going to start buying? I need to right now as I can't afford to go n get everything just before she arrives lol

SurprisinglyCurvaceousPirate · 16/07/2012 23:05

Calm down, it wasn't an unhelpful post, it was a question! I was just wondering why you were so bothered about buying pink clothes if you'd already bought a pram!

No need to be so touchy Hmm.

MrsJohnMurphy · 16/07/2012 23:35

You don't have to buy pink things, get some lovely colourful babygrows, I remember getting lots of compliments on my ds2's bright stripy first outfit. Baby pink and blue are a bit boring anyway.

Buy away, who wants to be farting about getting baby things ready when close to dropping.

If you are concerned about money lots of baby stuff is fine second hand, used cot with new mattress etc. Most baby stuff is overpriced tat anyway.

Notmyselfatall · 16/07/2012 23:43

Ok surprisingly, I apologise. As I said, have only put deposit on my pram. Ty mrsjohnmurphy, I'm Defo just gonna start buying now. Just bought my Moses basket online, went for white, just incase! Lol. Will buy some other things tomorrow, blankets etc...Grin

I'll buy things as I need them, probably. The buying it all at once thing is easily solved by saving up. My DD came into the world proud owner of a few clothes and a basket and she did alright. Never did buy many of the big things I was told were essential (pram, baby bath, swing, bumbo, travel cot, playpen, steriliser, etc) so saved the money and a lot of time and space!

SurprisinglyCurvaceousPirate · 17/07/2012 10:56

No worries, notmy, I would reiterate what others have said - lots of neutrals then you can always accessorise with a pink blanket if need be.

Have you asked around friends and family - you'd be amazed how many 2nd hand freebies you can pick up!

MissCoffeeNWine · 17/07/2012 11:13

How about red green yellow purple blue orange brown black white turquoise and all the shades of the above. There are lots of colours in the world. A baby boy's penis won't drop off if he's tucked under a pink blanket. And a girl won't grow one in a blue pram. I've never had anything pink or blue or that weird creamy brown shade supposed to be 'neutral' and the babies have survived.

Stateofplay · 17/07/2012 14:20

I'm the same and have not bought anything, and don't feel inclined too either. Not for any negative reason, but I just-can't-be-bothered. Is that awful of me? I have a DD, age 3, and literally TONS of baby and toddler gear, equipment, clothes etc stashed away. So I don't think we need anything, apart from a new crib mattress I guess. And some nappies, which can be thrown into the last supermarket shop before the due date.

I don't know the gender, so this one might be a boy though, but I feel like I'm really not bothered if it ends up wearing DD's old newborn stuff (I tried to boycott pink for her for first 2 years anyway, although there are bags of pretty dresses). Does anyone else feel like this for their second?
I just can't bear idea of going shopping, really, online or physically.

minipie · 17/07/2012 14:41

Couldn't agree more MissCoffee - I just wish there were more baby clothes available in other colours!

MissCoffeeNWine · 17/07/2012 15:05

search ebay by colour. Or buy dylon. Done.
