Does anyone get it done ? If so, when relative to edd would you go ? I normally get my facial hair and underarm done every few weeks , and bikini if I'm going on holiday or something . Was just thinking about if I should get everywhere done for labour and when .

I used pregnancy as an excuse to stop faffing about with all of that. Appreciate i may be in a minority but when you're in labour who cares?

If it makes you feel better though do it...might be hard to time it right though as baby could make an appearance any time over a 5 week period realistically!

bonzo77 · 15/07/2012 14:12

2 weeks before edd. Would have gone again soon after due date if I'd got that far.

piprabbit · 15/07/2012 14:14

You are a brave lady - apparently it can be more than usually painful as the whole area is more sensitive than normal.

AnitaBlake · 15/07/2012 14:14

I'll be getting it down. ECMS last time, ELCS this time. No time to shave me last time, not taking any chances this time!

WillowTheWitch · 15/07/2012 14:19

Haha pip it is a lot sorer than usual just now but I am very dark and hairy so I am used to it ! I had actually started looking into laser hair remover just before I conceived so once lo is born I will definitely be getting it ! Grin I will definitely need to get my tache done anyway so I might as well go all out Grin

I am planning to get it done because of keeping clean after during the bleeding and friends who had stitches said having hair there made it more uncomfortable.

As for when? I suppose about 2 wks before would be a good idea. As for how much off? I will get the full under carriage done (complete clearance they call it at my salon) and leave a neat triangle at the front.

WillowTheWitch · 15/07/2012 14:24

spuddy when are you due ? Do you get this done regularly ? I'd love to know how they do it in pregnancy I can't imagine being able to adopt the knees up position to get the underneath bits !Grin

Spuddybean · 15/07/2012 14:30

Yes Willow, i get this done regularly, even when not preggers (because i have astonishingly thick dark hair down there). It is often called an 'extended bikini' too.

I am due 29 August, but will have it done this week (as i am having a naked photo shoot!! Blush next week). Then again if the baby isn't here in about a months time.

When are you due?

Spuddybean · 15/07/2012 14:35

Oh and position wise. I just lay on my side and have both legs bent with one on the bed and one knee pointing to the ceiling, i then pull the skin cheeks apart where and when appropriate.

Flat on your back with feet touching, heel to heel, knees bent and apart in a diamond (like a smear test position) also is good.

coffeeandcream · 15/07/2012 15:10

Sorry to thread-butt, I had a full Hollywood for the first time yesterday as I'm thinking once bump gets bigger it will be really hard for me to do my own grooming down there Blush.

The girl who did it was absolutely fantastic and didn't bat an eyelid! She said she has loads of pregnant clients as they need some help with this as they get bigger. I'm only 20 weeks but wanted to get started sooner rather than later so I get used to it.

Am a bit tender today, but otherwise it was really good and I'd recommend it.

HaggisNeepsTatties · 15/07/2012 18:03

I will definitely be getting waxed right up till the baby comes...including intimate areas. Much better for keeping clean afterwards, or if you have to have stitches. If you can find someone near you who does hot waxing rather than strip wax it's is much less painful for bikini and underarm (the wax doesn't stick to the skin, just the hairs)

TheGrandOldDuke · 15/07/2012 19:52

I was thinking about this, but was reading the NHS notes saying you mustn't wax before a c-sec as it raises risk of infection. They have to shave you immediately before.

WillowTheWitch · 15/07/2012 20:55

Afaik some will only go so far in and almost all will leave you with a triangle for that same reason duke . I will just get off as much as the therapist will take off Grin

2nd nov spuddy . oh wow a naked photo shoot ? Like Demi Moore ?? Grin

WillowTheWitch · 15/07/2012 20:56

Was it even Demi Moore that started that trend ??Confused

If you don't normally get the lot taken off why would you think you need to do it especially for labour?

WillowTheWitch · 15/07/2012 21:54

Because labour is messy and disgusting and I had a third degree tear with DD so I'm thinking I might be more comfortable with no hair . I usually just shave down below but I'm starting to struggle a bit bending so I know I will definitely not be able to do it when I'm 9 months pregnant . I didn't bother last time but this time I think I would rather be waxed .

willow Well the naked photo shoot was a whim, it was a groupon deal for £15. So i thought why not for a laugh. If it looks shit i'll bin it. I wont display it or anything tho. It's just to remember my body like this really.

motherOfOne27 · 15/07/2012 22:38
