Hi

I have to book myself in to a midwife. Am 5+5 weeks and Kings won't accept be due to me living out of the area. Any ideas on what the PRU is like? There are some reviews on here but most are quite old now.

The PRUH is fine but very very hot - given that I had DD in December I shudder to think what temperature it may reach in summer. Take thin clothes and water bottle. I had an EMCS and all the staff seemed to be from elsewhere (it was Christmas) but everyone was competent and many quite friendly. I hear good things about the Oasis but it only takes low risk women and doesn't have many rooms.

I'm also due to give birth at the PRU in early August...I wish you could go and visit the ward before you're admitted!
Unfortunately I am high risk I cannot go to oasis which sounds amazing so would love to hear from experiences at the hospital Smile

Getting nervous now! x

Late to the thread but as it comes up on page 1 of a google search here you go. We had our first baby at the Oasis Birthing Centre just last week. They were amazing from start to finish. I have no experience in these things but we felt 100% safe in their hands, were kept so informed of what was happening and what they were doing every minute. Very attentive and the right balance of "there there" and "come on get on with it". The NHS gets a bad rap sometimes and maybe sometimes it is deserved but not here: just brilliant for what is a stressful but ultimately amazing time in one's life.
