Strange pulsing feeling, like a really fast heartbeat.

Just wondered if anyone else has experienced this. It's only happened twice to me, where I've woken up early morning - like 4am ish - needing the loo. Doesn't feel like a panic attack or anything because I'm not waking up flustered, shaking or out of breath. It doesn't even feel like my heartbeat either but when it has happened, I've been really really relaxed and half-asleep. Could it be baby's heartbeat or hiccups even? xx

Could you have a chat with your midwife? Even just to put your mind at ease?

sammyleh · 12/07/2012 12:58

I think I will if it happens again BlackOutTheSun I have another appointment in a a few weeks too so will also mention it then and see what she says.

Where are you feeling the heartbeat, your chest or your bump? I think palpitations can be normal when you're pg but you should get your bp measured just incase imho

sammyleh · 12/07/2012 14:03

I cant be totally sure because I'm sort of asleep... sounds really odd doesn't it? but I cant quite place it. I think its in my bump. If it were my chest I think I'd be a bit more panicked when it happened, and when I put my hand on my chest (from what I can remember in my zombie state) it doesn't feel like my heart going nuts. Bloody annoying. Really gonna have to see if it happens again to be certain.

I had this all the way through with DD and it has just started again with this one at 8 weeks. I have blood pressure/pulse rate monitor at home and it coincided with my resting pulse going from 70 to 82 but BP still low. Some people just feel it easier than others. It's the strangest feeling, almost like I can feel the blood pumping round my body! I've been told its very normal just due to increased blood volume but if you are in doubt at all get it checked :)

sammyleh · 12/07/2012 15:50

Thanks Rosduk my BP is completely normal, had a midwife appt. the day before and she was happy with everything, baby's moving fine etc, nothing out of the ordinary at all so I'm not massively worried. Glad to hear I'm not the only one though, and you're right, it's a very very strange sensation and almost like I'm totally in tune with my blood pumping and all my pulse points! must just be super sensitive :)

Sounds a bit like baby hiccups to me. I've been getting them all the time since 24 weeks. Mine are usually quite low down as that is where baby's head is.

BadgerFace · 12/07/2012 16:53

I've had it too Sammy, and always around 4am (which I am waking up at EVERY day - aaargh!), from about 6-7 weeks.

I put getting it at that time down to the fact that I'm at my warmest when I've been under the duvet for 6 hours and so my blood's pumping faster but that could be nonsense!

I also wish my bladder could hold on for more than 6 hours, I think that's part of the reason I'm waking at the same time every day. But I definitely have palpatation type feelings in my uterus at that time too!

Oh tell me about it BadgerFace the day I can hold a pee while out is going to be brilliant!! Start those pelvic floor exercises nice and early :)
