Really achy bump and reduced movement since MW appointment

I saw the midwife yesterday - I am 29 weeks - and the student midwife properly got her hands into my stomach to feel where the baby was. It was really uncomfortable. She pushed way harder than I would. Since, my bump has felt sore - could it be bruised? And is this a problem? Movement has reduced definitely since too, but I also wondered if her manipulation could have moved the baby.

I know that if I am worried I should call the hospital, but I don't want to if the above is normal. I've not really been a worrywart at all, but something just feels a bit different. I am feeling flutters, it's just quite different from what I was feeling before.

Any advice would be appreciated, thanks!

I really don't know if it could have caused any damage (though I'd doubt it) - but honestly, if there's reduced movement and you're worried, call someone.

Reduced movement = call MW

Thanks - I know there's nothing else anyone can say so it was a silly question really.
But I appreciate you answering :)

Please just give them a call. x

Thanks for posting pookamoo - he/she finally started moving after dinner so panic over. I would have called if I hadn't felt anything by now.
It's the first day where I have had nothing all day, but we all have quiet days I suppose.
Thanks all

Glad you felt bean move! :) TBH I am 27+5 and still find there are days where she is a bit quiet, then the next day is leaping about like a frog :)

PollyIndia · 11/07/2012 22:26

Thanks Angelico! Yes, I guess it's like we all are... I feel silly for worrying. Also when you are at work, it's not like you can drink an icy coca cola and lie on your side for an hour!!
I do wonder if the baby might have moved as a result of the prodding yesterday, but I don't have a clue how this all works! Probably just a quiet day.

I've noticed that student midwives are very eager when they have a feel. One once dug deep in, cupping her hands around my uterus and I could have sworn she was about to rip it out through my tummy!

It certainly made me realise how much pressure the baby can take - I'd previously worried a about poking too hard!

Good you have felt movement now. Hope the aching has stopped!

Thank you, it does feel better this am. Maybe something was bruised. It's the first time I have had any sort of examination of my stomach/uterus and I was pretty surprised at how hard they go in! It really felt similar to how you are describing!
