Have you dyed your hair during pregnancy?

I havent dyed mine (well I had highlights early days before I knew I was pregnant) since finding out. My roots were horrendous so went to the hairdressers last night and had some lowlights put through to blend my roots up to the rest of my hair. Was quite please with the result. Not worried because I know that it is safe as far as anyone knows.

However, I'm a secondary teacher and my hair is noticebly darker. All day I've had kids saying 'Miss you shouldn't dye your hair when you're pregnant!!" to me. This is the hormones and I'm not usually sensitive to teenagers but they've made me feel like the worst mother to be ever.

Is dying your hair during pregnancy still seen as a bad thing by a lot of people? I've read all the advice that it's fine so I know it is but are people going to act like I'm smoking 20 a day?

Just trying to gauge how many other people do it to make myself feel a bit cheerier. Thanks :-)

Yup, a couple of times. I think the guideline is because you're more likely to react badly rather than because it'll hurt the baby.

I did throughout my pregnancy. I am 35 but have the grey hair of a 55 year old Sad... I had to, I couldn't not. Sad

There are plenty of colourists who've had babies and they handle hair dye all the time. Nowadays hair colour formulas are not as toxic as they used to be, anyway.

I did exactly what you did - had lowlights to blend in with my roots.

The way I see it is I now don't have to dye my hair for the rest of pregnancy (although I miss being blonder) AND have saved a few hundred quid which means I am clearly a very savvy mum to be ;)
