acupuncture and morning sickness - anybody tried?

I was wondering if anybody had had acupuncutre for 'morning (think all day) sickness'. I did have it last time I was pregnant but had m/c at about 8 weeks. Am now pregnant again, only 5.5 weeks but already feeling very sick (had nausea for best part of 7-8 months with DS). Would really like to try it again as last time the nausea stopped instantly but cannot get out of my head that the acupuncture may had caused the m/c or that it only seemed to work because teh pregnancy was not going to last.

Has anybody tried it, or practises it?

I have a friend who is a medical herbalist who is ready to give me all sorts of herbs but am more reluctant about taking herbs for some reason.

Thanks

Hi Sibble

I had terrible sickness and resorted to acupuncture....it worked really well.
I have just had my ds (28th Oct) and the labour and delivery was the best one yet (I have 2 other ds).
If you are a little unsure maybe you should wait until after the 8wk mark to put your mind at rest knowing that this pregnancy is pass the point in time of your m/c.
I hope all goes well

I had accupuncture for my backpain while pregnant so can't give my opinion on nausea BUT if the accupuncturist puts the needles in the wrong places it can cause miscarriage, bring on labour so make sure that the person you go to knows their stuff when it comes to pregnancy.

I had really bad nausea up until about 13 weeks and had 2 sessions of accupuncture - tbh I don't think it did much good. The first time I actually happened to be having a "good day" anyway and I felt ok the next day as well, but nausea came back again after that. I wasn't quite so severe but I think it may have been starting to ease anyway as I was almost 11 week by then. I don't think I would bother next time (what am I talking about - there isn't going to be a next time!! )

it didnt help my sickness but it kept my energy levels up the whole way through and I am convinced it helped me have a quick easy birth too

I had about 6 sessions with my dd1 and it didn't help with the nausea at all - but I enjoyed the relaxing peace and quiet of the appointments! Someone told me that if it was going to work, it would be straightaway, but don't know if that's true...I found fizzy water/diet coke and eating constantly helped me to feel slightly better, but I also suffered from 'all-day sickness' with all 4 of my pregnancies and you have my sympathy. With the last 2, I felt a a lot better and stopped actually throwing up after 20 weeks. hth

whilst i dont practise acupuncture, i do practise reflexology and that can also be effective for nausea.

i would also say, that a m/c is a terribly distressing thing to happen an it may happen for many reasons but complementary therapies wont cause miscarriage.

imagine if we could do that? i think we would be pretty busy, wouldnt we?

a viable pregnancy is amazingly hard to shift... think of the ladies that have car crashes, falls and all sorts but the pregnancy survives.

i know when one has a m/c, a reason is needed but it wont be because you had a massage or reflexology.

It didn't help with the puking, did help wonderfully with heartburn.
