Sleepsuits with built in scratch mitts

Can anyone recommend where does sleepsuits with built in scratch mitts as standard? I've seen that Jojomaman do but they're also quite expensive so would like a few cheaper options if possible!

Thanks :)

Next do them and i think sainsbury do them in newborn up to 6 months. Next are long fitting and good quality but still a bit pricey.

peggyblackett · 11/07/2012 07:42

John Lewis do them.

OneTwoOrThree · 11/07/2012 07:42

Next
Mothercare
NOT John Lewis

Used the integrated scratch mitts religiously with PFB. DC2 (4 months) has never had his hands covered - just didn't seem necessary second time round. Hmm

Herrena · 11/07/2012 07:43

I think Mothercare do them! Otherwise try Next or Debenhams. Tesco/Sainsburys do quite reasonable onesies too. Primark ones seem a bit lightweight to me but are good for the summer.

I think I've given you a range of price options there!!

Oh and I personally HATE Mamas and Papas stuff because I find the location of the poppers around the bum (for nappy changing) to be awkwardly situated - I had to practically lift my DS off the mat to access them but never had that problem with any other type of onesie!

blackteaplease · 11/07/2012 07:46

I wasn't going to bother with mitts but dd got excema at an early age and scratches in her sleep. When its really bad i put socks on her hands now and she's 2.5.

NarcolepsyQueen · 11/07/2012 07:47

All of Mothercare's come with them as standard - cheap too as they often seem to have a deal on!

Cheekychops84 · 11/07/2012 07:57

Some of Asda ones do too but check first in the packet

izzybizzybuzzybees · 11/07/2012 10:14

Matalan and asda do some and they are very well priced and quality good too.

RichManPoorManBeggarmanThief · 11/07/2012 10:27

Another vote for Mothercare. Some babies are worse than others it seems. DS was terrible- such a flailer- would always wrestle out of the swaddle and claw at his face.

It's funny- even at 2 years, I know when he's tired because he starts to sort of paw at his head.

Cheekychops84 · 11/07/2012 10:40

Yes jus bought some in mothercare but v expensive ! 3x £15! Some were reduced to £10 but not in the size/ colour I needed ! But that's £5 each a bit extortionate but I'm running out of time and energy so jus grabbed them !

CherryBlossom27 · 11/07/2012 10:46

I bought some from Mothercare, I told my pregnant friend to get built in scratch mitts they are a million times easier, sod any extra cost!

Sainsburys definitely do them, and I've been told some of Asdas sleep suits do, but not all of them, so check before you buy!

IceCreamCastles · 11/07/2012 10:54

I like the next ones as they have nice, bright patterns and seem good quality.

Ds kept busting his hands out of the John Lewis ones but couldn't escape from the next ones.

WorriedWart · 11/07/2012 13:12

Sainsburys do them - they are around £10 for a pack of 3 and every so often they do a 25% off sale on children's clothes do you can grab a few packs at once. They are really good quality and wash well - a lot better than some of the more expensive brands.

The Mothercare ones are a bit pricey but they wash and wash and will do 2/3 babies so I think they're worth it.

custardandrhubarb · 11/07/2012 13:19

Thank you for all of the suggestions - even the pricier ones sound more reasonable than £14 for one sleepsuit which is what I'd seen on Jojo! When is best to start stocking up on things like sleepsuits? I'm only 24 weeks but looking forward to buying things so it all starts to feel more real Grin

Any advice on how many/in what sizes also gratefully received - can you tell this is my first! Blush

I've just come back from Sainsburys and they are doing new-born and various sizes after that in packs of 2 or 3 at half price. They all have inbuilt scratch mitts.

I just bought some white ones in newborn (2 pk ) for £4. Don't think you can go far wrong with that ;)

sammyleh · 11/07/2012 14:35

Matalan, i got some fab ones from there and so cheap too! x

Herrena · 11/07/2012 19:55

Ooh, and go to this website for very cheap second-hand stuff! They do events in various areas and you can go hunt for bargains - i.e. see the stuff before you buy. I don't know if your baby will be PFB or not but honestly, they won't notice if another baby has worn their clothes before....

I got my DS (13mo) 2 pairs of Clarks shoes for £1 per pair!! I was Grin

CherryBlossom27 · 12/07/2012 09:41

Hi OP,

Everyone will tell you something different, but personally I would buy 12 vests and 12 sleepsuits. You might go through 3/4 changes of clothes a day if your LO has a leaky nappy, wees over themselves mid nappy change or is a sicky baby. This will give you a chance to get clothes washed and dried.

My DS was 9lbs 1 oz and newborn size was useful as the 0-3 month size was too big and he got his arms and legs caught up, so I would buy newborn size upwards.

My other newborn clothing tip is to get knitted cardigans - preferably handmade - as they dry fast and you can stretch the arms to meet the babies arms! Much easier than trying to get a newborn to do what you want, just bring the cardi arm to them :)

I'd also get a coat for the baby, probably 4 cardigans, and 2 cotton hats to wear for the first day whilst in hospital.

Have fun shopping :)

Graciescotland · 12/07/2012 15:23

I'd second what cherry said a dozen of each, with sizes from newborn. DS was 8 lb 9.5 and 0-3 was a bit big. I really liked Next sleepysuits for their integral mitts.

At our hospital they preferred DC's to wear wool (handknitted) hats rather than the cotton ones as they're much warmer, I don't know anywhere that sells them though. The hospital had a big box lovingly knitted by volunteers, we still have DS's :) Might be a nice gift to suggest to a relative.

custardandrhubarb · 12/07/2012 21:44

Thanks everyone, can't wait to go shopping for them now Grin
