Pregnancy following ruptured uterus?

Apologies in advance if I?ve posted in the wrong place ? wasn?t sure where this should live.

I?d be really interested to hear from anyone who has had a pregnancy following a ruptured uterus and how this was managed in terms of monitoring, delivery etc. My uterus ruptured during delivery of DD (needed emergency section, very poorly DD, me not in the best state, etc) but in the appt I had with the consultant afterwards they said they had no idea why it happened (first pregnancy, no previous surgery), they?d never know why and I?d probably be ok to have another one. The suggestion was that I?d need to have a section at 39 weeks (my DD was also born at 39 weeks).

Two years on we?re starting to think about having a second child but ?probably? ok isn?t enough of a guarantee that we?ll both make it through in one piece. I?m scared, to be honest. We?ve got a referral back to the initial consultant, who I?m suspecting will say again that it ?should? be fine when what I?d like is something a bit more evidence-based - ?we?d manage it in X way for Y reasons?.

Does anyone have any experience of having gone through a similar thing? My mad googling has brought up stories of women in other countries being admitted as a matter of course at 35 weeks, section at 37 weeks, but this isn?t anything close to what I?m being told would happen.

cant you ask the consultant? or midwife?

It's really difficult to search for info due to the number of articles discussing the risk of uterine rupture in the first place. I can only assume that you would be on a pathway similar to a woman who had had a complicated c/section in her first pregnancy. Your consultant is definitely the person to talk to. Also, if you have changed hospital I would think it was vital that your previous maternity notes were ordered - this doesn't always happen and your consultant won't chase it.

Thanks for the replies - will definitely start with the consultant, it's just knowing where to go from there if I still get the 'should be ok' line. But I'll cross that bridge if I get to it, I guess!
