I can't help but think I should get one
But

I drive so will prob use my car seat quite a lot too.
Just wondering people's thoughts on slings really

I plan to use one around the house, but not really planning on using one outdoors :)

PollyIndia · 09/07/2012 16:45

I am going to use one I hope. Someone recommended slingmeets to get the hang of how to secure a baby into one before you actually have your baby.

I think it looks quite good.

I had a sleepy wrap and I loved it, really comfy to wear. Also great as at one point it was the only way I managed to get anything done!

SlingMeets are a fantastic opportunity to meet experienced baby wearers - they can show you lots of different carries and a range of slings. They can also point you in the direction of any local sling libraries or babywearing consultants in your area.

They're really useful, would recommend. It's so stressful trying to go shopping when you can't fit in the shops with your pram!! (Bad memories of a girly shopping trip when DS was a baby!) Also as others say for when around the house. Mine was my number one best buy a couple of years ago when DD was born.

Rockchick1984 · 10/07/2012 00:08

I love using a sling, it's one of the best purchases I made (despite also being on pram number 4 lol). Don't get a baby bjorn type thing, try to find a local sling meet and they will show you some options. My fave when DS was smaller was my Moby wrap (looks scary but dead easy to use) and was also perfect for the days around the house when he wanted constant cuddles but it meant I could still go and make a brew etc Grin

I loved my moby sling and am planning to use it from day 1 with DC2. SO much easier to get out and about without a pushchair, especially around the shops - and could save you having to get a pushchair in and out of the car.

DS1 was a colicky, sickly baby who would not be put down so I carried him around the house most of the time. I think if I had not had the sling, the hoovering, washing up and cooking would never have got done! and that he would have cried much, much more than he ever did.

CrazyRandomHappenstance · 10/07/2012 07:44

i have the most lovely pram too, DD2 hates it with a passion, i have ended up carrying her everywhere in my moby and TBH its a lot easier, just got a backpack for a change bag. got my hands free and no problems getting on the bus.

PollyIndia · 10/07/2012 08:31

Is the moby easy to get to grips with? Was advised that for newborn then an ergo from 6 months. I have read you can even breastfeed with the moby.. Ie be walking round stains buys with the baby feeding! That sounds like the kind of multi- tasking I like!

PollyIndia · 10/07/2012 08:33

Also rock chick, cans you go to a sling meet before you have bought a sling and just try out theirs?

MrsReiver · 10/07/2012 09:05

Polly - absolutely! The more the merrier x

CrazyRandomHappenstance · 10/07/2012 10:02

I love my moby, i find it easy, but struggle to BF in it only because DD is so long it was fine when she was tiny, i also have a Rose and Rebellion which is fantastic

Rockchick1984 · 10/07/2012 10:32

crazy I've got a R&R now too, it's fab isn't it? DS is now a huge 16 month old and he still just about fits comfortably in it, think I'm going to need to invest in the toddler size soon tho! Smile

PollyIndia · 10/07/2012 12:35

Thanks MrsReiver!
Does anyone know how a rose and rebellion compares to an ergo? I'll have a google too..

CrazyRandomHappenstance · 10/07/2012 12:52

Rockchickit's your fault i've got one lol i saw you mention it on another thread so looked them up and was in love Grin

MrsReiver · 10/07/2012 13:44

Ergos and R&R's are both buckle carriers, however R&R's are works of art, while Ergos are fairly utilitarian.

My ultimate wish-list carrier is a Melkaj.

Did you know you can get Hopp Tyes on Amazon? I'm due in Feb so will be asking Santa for one, they're gorgeous.
