I'm 34 weeks and this morning have very suddenly broken out in this horrid rash. It is driving me mad as it is so itchy. It is red and bumpy- do I need to get checked out? Is it normal?

Worth getting checked out but might be PUPPS? I started with that at about 35 weeks.

GoldenMama · 07/07/2012 08:31

Please get checked out. I haven't ever heard of this happening.

If you are somewhere hot then could be heat related?

Why don't you call NHS direct seeing as it's the weekend and see what they suggest initially.

I thought pupps too. Google it, print it out and bring info with you. None of the HCPs i saw had heard of it. I got steroid cream and it really helped.

Do get it checked but I feel your pain, I am 38 weeks, covered in an itchy red rash and pissed off with it now! My doctor said it wasn't anything to worry about and wouldn't harm the baby, I have wondered if I have PUPPS but the GP didn't mention it specifically. He gave me a mild steroid and also said E45 would be ok too. Yesterday I had a tepid bath and slept for a couple of hours, that made me feel a bit better. Hope it clears up for you soon.

If it is Pupps pine tar soap really helps! I bought mine from the Ray Mears bushcraft website Smile. Leave it to dry on your skin for a bit before washing it off. You'll smell like a dodgy air freshener but I found using it last thing at night helped the itching enough to be able to get some sleep.

Gin I have just ordered some pine tar soap! Thanks for the tip :)

I am seeing midwife tomorrow. Wonder if it is worth making doctor's appointment too? It isn't reacting well to my stretchmark cream, but I really don't want to stop using it as I only got one with ds and hoped to escape this time.

I had this too but also down my legs. Had to take antihistamines at dermatologists advice throughout the pregnancy.

I'd go and see the GP as well because I don't think Midwives are able to prescribe medication, so if you need some stronger cream or something the GP is the one who should be able to help.
