In need of some advise please, my Ds came home from nursery yesterday with a couple of spots on his back, these have now spread to all over his body over the afternoon. this morning I have woke up to find 4 spots on my own back/bum that look very similar to his. I'm 24 weeks preg today and already had chicken pox as a child, any idea what to do please. really concerned/scared now as not been the easiest of pregnancies for me as baby looks like it's having problems with both of the kidneys.

Call your midwife or doctor. They are the ones that can give you the best advice!

Go to the doctors as soon as you can. I was around a little boy with chicken pox and started to feel ill, the doctor advised me brilliantly and put me at ease. You'll feel better for speaking to a professional xx

Don't go to the drs with suspected chickenpox (unless they ask you to)! Ring and ask for a telephone appointment.

FWIW the main problems in pg occur during first 12wks and last couple of weeks so at 24wks you are outside the 'dangerous' time but worth getting medical advice.

Ask a professional but as far as I know the danger time is nearer the end of your pregnancy when the baby has a chance of being delivered and catching it or having already caught it.

Let us know what your Dr or midwife says. Take care

My little girl came down with the dreaded pox in the early days of this pregnancy - my doctor assured me that there was no danger if I had already had it as a child. Hope your doctor can put your mind at rest - it's hard not to worry! Smile

Agree with haunted and misty that if you do have it, this is a less dangerous time to have it, of that first sound odd, because the baby's not so young as to have its development affected, but is not so old that there's a risk it will be born with it.

It's also highly unlikely that you've got chickenpox, if you are certain you've had it as a child.

I've just checked all this out because I was in the same situation last week!

But you must always check with your midwife/doctor if you are at all uncertain, it's just not worth the risk.

If that doesn't sound odd, I meant!

spoke to dr this morning went to see him so he could check, it looks similsr to chicken pox, i've been booked in for a blood test on tuesday to check if i am immune to them or not, also just text my mum to make sure that i have had them before. dr said i should be ok but if i feel worse or get a temp i'm to checked out again.

Hope all goes well with the blood test, I had to do the same and it eased my mind and stopped me worrying. Always worth going to get checked out. I only said go see the doctor because a lot of surgeries have separate rooms for suspected chicken pox patients - mine did :) xx

I had it at 30 weeks. It was bloody awful but no adverse effects on baby at that point. Hop everything okay x

I'm one of the few people that get's chicken pox more than once...I had it 3-4 times as a child (unsure diagnosis due to the fact most don't!).

DS1 had Cp when I was 20-odd weeks pregnant. I was advised that if I had any symptoms, I could get jabs which would reduce the severity of the CP. I could have had blood tests, but I didn't bother because I (baby) was in the 'safe' zone.

Good luck and hope your mind is put at ease soon.
