Private dentist and exemption form

Hi,

I'm 11wks and due to see the MW for the first time next week. When I visited the doctor three weeks ago, I filled in the form to get the medical exemption thing but haven't received it yet.
They also "didn't put my name in the book" so it wasn't until I chased them up two weeks later that the MW got in touch to arrange the first appointment.
So I have a feeling the exemption form has gone the same way.

I haven't been to the dentist for far too many years and know that I should now. But I don't have an NHS dentist.
If I turn up at a private dentist and say I want free treatment are they going to turf me out? or will Mr Taxman foot the bill?

Congratulations !

Private dentists do not provide NHS services - so no free services. You need to find an NHS dentist or maybe an NHS dentist in a dental practice that does both NHS/private.....or just pay.

An exemption is from NHS charges. No. Under no circumstances will a private dentist waive their fee. However, you do not need to present your card to get free nhs treatment at an nhs dentist. Just tick the right box on the blue form.

My dentist suggested to me that had I been on income support or similar he would waive the fee if I had a maternity wotsit. He's private (and really lovely). Under normal circumstances though he told me no.

Thank you all !
I'll go on the hunt for a nearby NHS one.
