If you have older DCs can they visit you and baby in hospital?

Just that really. Being induced in 3 weeks and trying to answer DDs questions and realise I actually have no idea. I've seen people saying that they've been discharged with baby 6 hours after birth - is it likely after induction? If so not worth making plans

Normally you'd be in 12 hours so there should be time. Six hours is if it's very straightforward but with the induction if you need syntocin (sp?) drip etc it has to be gradually reduced after the birth and if you have an epidural etc you'd be in longer.
So I would think dd would have plenty time to visit you.
Ds came to see me in high dependancy and he is only 3. The midwives were lovely with him.

In our local hospital there are posters up in maternity wards saying that siblings are allowed, but no other children.

Thank you that sounds hopeful

Good question op was wondering same thing this eve as dd is 18mo and I'll be in 24-48 hours in a few weeks time.

My hospital said they were really strict re children visiting (siblings only) but in reality it was a free for all!
