Hi im doing a little research here for expectant mother's and wondered if you wouldn't mind helping? I am a Beauty/Massage Therepist and looking to specialise in treatments for expectant mother's but just wondered if massage is something you would be interested in during your pregnancy or as a new mum? I have a 16 month old son and would have loved a massage whilst I was pregnant but didn't know where to go! It would be a mobile or home based service and would really appreciate your comments & opinions! Thank you :)

I would love to be pampered - I can not reach my feet anymore so would love someone to sort those out!! I do like the idea of massage too but I think things that are harder to do while pregnant would be a fab idea - dare I say the bikini line?????

Aworryingtrend · 03/07/2012 11:35

Yes yes yes to massage, bikini wax and pedicures.

I think it's a great idea. I've been looking quite hard for nice things like that but it seems most salons do a 'token pregnancy massage' but I haven't yet been inspired to take them up. It would be lovely for someone to offer a homes service that included massage, scrub, nails etc.

Massage particularly legs right now (cramp!) would be lovely.

Great idea, especially if done at home as in the last weeks of pregnancy I couldn't be bothered to get off sofa

I read about pregnancy massages where the massage bed has a hole cut out to accomodate bump, but sadly my part of the country had nowhere that offers this. If yours would be a service where it isn't readily available then I think it'd definitely be a hit, I wasn't personally keen on the alternatives of either lying on my side then turning over, or sitting up for my massage!!!

Thank you all for your replies, will be definately looking into a bed with a hole for the bump & interested that some of you mentioned beauty treatments also as had not thought of offering those but since I am qualified to do so I may as well! Package treatments would be a great idea :) How about after you've had the baby, or would you go to a salon?

from my experience pregnancy massages are nice but not really doing the job because a lot of things (and mainly deep massage) are not allowed, so for me it's a waste of time till after i Give birth. Then, It becomes a MUST

Lol, I'm the opposite, didn't have time or money after having DS to get massages! Smile

Defo offer to sort out manky toe's!! I can't remember what I did last time, but I know I managed to sort 'down there' out somehow before I went to hospital but after several large hints to DP I never got my toe's painted!

steben · 03/07/2012 17:38

yes to massage - especially leg and feet.

i also have pedis/manis and facials - in fact as much pampering as i can whenever i can afford it

My PiL bought me a voucher fir a massage after my DS was born and I've never used it, as much as I loved my pregnancy massage. After all the time spent breastfeeding if I had anytime to myself I didn't want to spend it having my body pawed! I was happy not to be touched for a bit!
