It's just external and I'm assuming it's thrush. But as I'm 19 weeks pregnant can I just buy something over the counter? Or I have a GP appointment on Wednesday so should I bring this up then? xx

You can buy Canesten pessary and cream OTC but don't tell the pharmacist you're pg or they won't sell it to you Hmm I've had thrush this pregnancy (am now 24 weeks) and the GP has prescribed Canesten each time.

Tell gp too in case there's an infection

Think I may wait til Wednesday and speak to the GP. If it can be prescribed it'll save me a bit of money. Plus cos I'm small it's obvious already that I'm pregnant so not sure I'll fool the pharmacist!

Thanks guys xx

Whack on a bit of live yoghurt in the meantime! I find eating a couple of pots a day helps too!

Definitely get it prescribed and use your free card thingy which you should have been given by your Midwife or GP so you don't pay for prescriptions. I have been plagued by thrush this time and would have spent a small fortune on canasten duo!

Cutting down on sugar and bread products can help sometimes too - and definitely give the live yoghurt a go - can be very soothing!

My GP was a locum and thought you couldn't have the pessary when preg - if they say that just ask them politely to look it up in the BNF drug book for you - you CAN use it but they recommend not using the applicator for the pessary.

Good luck! xx
