Places to get maternity wear at Bluewater

I'm hoping to manage a trip to Bluewater in the next week or so as I need some new maternity clothes, and I far prefer to try stuff on before I buy if I can. Does anyone know which shops stock maternity clothes in store? Anywhere you'd particularly recommend? Thanks!

H and m

Thanks- I was starting to worry the lack of responses meant nowhere actually stocked maternity clothes any more....

Yea! I went there because I couldn't find anywhere else so had to go to bluewater

DesperateHousewife21 · 29/06/2012 19:34

I'm going to bluewater in a couple of weeks for the exact same reason!

I'm hoping to find things in h&m and new look.
Other possibilities are m&s, Dorothy perkins, debenhams and poss John Lewis.

I'll be checking out all the preg women now as we might end up going the same day!

SpringFlowers · 29/06/2012 19:57

M&S and NEXT don't have any in store anymore, only online. JL don't have any either and there isn't a Debenhams. Gap have a small range. I had a look last weekend and it was poor. I don't like online shopping, I want to try it on and find it annoying that there are so few places to shop.

Chunkychicken · 29/06/2012 20:23

H&M have a small range, hidden at the back of the kids section.

Mothercare has a small selection. As has Dorothy Perkins.

Nothing in John Lewis or M&S.

I found it ridiculous too, and would rather try before I buy, but have ended up buying from Verbaudet online or second-hand.

For the "biggest shopping centre in Europe" or whatever their boast is, it was pretty pitiful!!

Have found maternity summer clothes to be rubbish too (all white linen shorts or trousers, nothing practical like work clothes) compared to those I bought in winter when I was pg with my DD 2.5yrs ago.

Chunkychicken · 29/06/2012 20:24

Oh, another good shop but not at Bluewater - Matalan.

RedKites · 29/06/2012 22:17

Thanks for all your suggestions everyone. I'm glad it's not just me who likes to try stuff on, although it sounds like this might be a short trip. Oh well.

is there a mamas and papas or jojo maman bebe?

if so they will do maternity clothes, but i heavnt been to blue water so dont know

TenMinutesLate · 30/06/2012 10:24

I was at bluewater yesterday and topshop has a sale on with quite a bit of maternity stuff in it...leggings and printed tops x

I second h&m, and I'm sure New Look has a maternity section. Cheap and really nice. And if all else fail, h&m for their maternity vests (brilliant!!!!), leggings and then just get some really bright scarfs and chunky jewelry.....they always fit, no matter how big the belly gets!

Happy shopping!!!

TenMinutesLate · 30/06/2012 10:25

No mamas & papas at bluewater :-(

blonderthanred · 30/06/2012 11:52

I went to three different M&Ss before the nice lady in Brent Cross kindly told me I was wasting my time as even the bigger branches don't stock in-store.

It has made me very grumpy with them.

Just so annoying as it's a time in your life when you really don't know what will fit.

So far I've only bought stuff from New Look as I can try it on!

nickelbarapasaurus · 30/06/2012 11:54

ime, most of the shops on the high street don't have decent ranges of maternity clothes in the shop.

I ended up buying normal clothes in bigger sizes.

nickelbarapasaurus · 30/06/2012 11:55

and oh my god, did i feel depressed when I shopped at Bluewater for maternity clothes!

I couldn't have felt more unwelcome if i'd smelled like a tramp and swore (i promise i didn't!)

voscar · 30/06/2012 15:15

I live next to bluewater so have trailed nearly every shop looking for maternity.

Mothercare have a section
Top Shop have a section
H&M have a section in their kids bit (downstairs)
Next have a very small section and it gets binned occasionally for season stuff so it's just your luck

M&S, New Look, John Lewis and House of Frazer don't.

Lakeside is near and over there Dorothy Perkins has a section (Bluewater doesn't). Their New Look used to have a section but I think they have gotten rid of it.

I found that just normal but stretchy stuff from m&s is really good - their Leggings are good if you like them under your bump.

That is about it.

voscar · 30/06/2012 15:17

Oh and gap has one rail of stuff. Matalan in Dartford has a couple of rails too.

nickelbarapasaurus · 02/07/2012 13:01

went into Mothercare (in Bluewater) yesterday - the shop has vastly improved since the last time we went in! Shock

it looks really, really good now, and they've got a much, much improved selection of maternity wear Grin

LoopyLa · 02/07/2012 13:50

New Look definitely don't have a maternity section anymore I'm afraid. I was there a month or so and was massively disappointed with the selection! However, their maternity jeans that you can get online are super comfy & the best I've come across.

And agreeing with other posters, Matalan has been my saviour!

DangerMousey · 02/07/2012 16:13

I found Bluewater to be quite disappointing, maternity-wear-wise.

However, I then went to The Glades shopping centre in Bromley the next weekend (much smaller, but quite nearby), and found that their New Look and H&M both have decent selections instore.

I particular, the New Look at Bromley was pretty good. The Mat wear is tucked away in the far back corner near their Plus Size ranges. I bought some jeans, 2 maxi dresses and 4 vest tops. Bargainous.

The H&M next door was pretty good too. I found these two shops more useful (and less stressful!) than the whole of BW!

RedKites · 29/07/2012 22:51

Sorry not to come back before. I went to Bluewater, but it was a pretty unsuccessful trip. In the end I ordered some stuff from Debenhams, which was fine, although I suspect if I'd been able to try some things on before I bought, I could have got clothes which fit better. Ah well, it's not for much longer...

I've been to bluewater twice since my last post and ended up getting basically all my clothes from h&m, there was quite a selection.

Ive also used eBay which is great for things like cardigans which don't really matter if they're too big.
I won a mamas and papas long wrap around cardy for less than £5.

AC786 · 30/07/2012 09:29

I say H and M too!! They are reasonably priced for maternity wear. I actually like the trousers with the big bands that sit around bump- as long as you put a belt round them. They are reasonably stylish.

I have also bought a couple of dresses from Isaballa Oliver online in the sale, and one from the white company- this is not maternity but is Jersey and so stretches!

margaret67 · 30/05/2013 10:11

Morph maternity has really good collection.Affordable and comfortable. They have discreet openings in nursing tops and adjustable strings on maternity tops so that you can adjust them with time.I got them online.
