Tummy pains....

Hi, I don't really know if this is normal but for the last few days I've been having some tummy pains, I'm 35+3 weeks and booked in for a c-sec after having 2 previous c-secs. I've never had pains like these before, it feels like a bit like period pains, very uncomfortable. Is this normal or should I be concerned??
Any advice welcome- thank you

I think you should ring labour ward if you are concerned.

I just didn't want to be over the top......the pains are constant rather than every so often.

I was told any abdominal pain (as opposed to a bit of a twinge) needs to be checked out (on the second blardy time I ended up in with dd2) For example UTIs I think can give the symptoms you describe and can trigger labour. Not over the top at all but cautious - imo its better to be on the safe side.

Thanks Brettgirl - I'll call the labour ward and see what they say.

Just to second that. And if they are still happening I would go in and have a trace on the heartbeat monitor regardless

Sorry, that was a bit abrupt! Not for any specific reason pertaining to your symptoms, just to be double double checking that everything is fine and for your peace of mind!

Thanks minceorotherwise will do :-)

Do, the midwives can make a fairly accurate assumption of what is going on, but this is your baby! The only way you can know for sure is to go down and tell them to put you on a monitor to check.
Might not be be everyone's view but I would make sure that happened. And to ensure that happens, don't downplay your symptoms, IYSWIM.

I called the labour ward and they said to go up there which I did - they monitored me for a while and I was getting tightenings every 10 mins or so with smaller ones between. They then checked cervix and took a swab (can't remember what it was called) that tells whether you are going to go into labour within the next 2 weeks - it came back negative so they sent me home with pain relief. Thanks for your advice :-)
