A question about anti-D

Once you've had your 28/34 weeks anti-D jab, does that mean you don't have to worry about any knocks/bumps/bleeds in the time after it because you have been covered? Or do they treat it like you need more?

Sorry to highack but I am super confused, I was told that I am R-Neg and will need to have the anti D jab at 28 weeks, which I have had done (1st pregnancy currently 36+5). I was told that it is so that if I choose to have another baby later on that it will help me carry that baby if that baby is R-Pos as my body could reject the pregnancy otherwise. What's this about bleeding and needing more shots? Sorry if I have it all wrong, can anyone help?

I am R-Neg also, not had much explained to me just that I need to be contacting the midwife / doctor if I have a blow to the tummy or any bleeding. Also that at 28 weeks I will need an injection of Anti D and again shortly after birth.

Any insight into this would be greatly appreciated. :)

if you are rh neg you need anti d in pregnancy, after any bump or bleed and after the birth if the baby if rh positive.
if the baby is rh neg there is no problem.
if the baby is rh pos your body tries to fight against it and produces antibodies? against rh pos, so if you then got pregnant again with a rh pos baby there is a high chance of misscarriage/still birth . but the anti d tries to counteract that.

Just found this thread. I am rhesus neg and had anti-d at 28 weeks. 35 weeks now. had a slight scrape to bump on Friday (rather than blow/ impact) which resulted in a very localised and superficial bruise which I only noticed in the mirror on Monday due to it being on the underside of my bump. I called the midwife who said not to worry and that 28 week injection would cover me. I remained unconvinced overnight and called again on the Tues morning who said I needed to go straight in. When I arrived a midwife looked at the bruise and said it's very superficial and that I needn't have gone in (?) but that they will have a look anyway Another midwife rushed in and said they will need to do some 'investigations'- blood tests, CTG monitoring etc. Anyway blood test was flagged as urgent but a day later results aren't ready. I literally had a different story from 6 different midwives ranging from saying there was no need to go in to 'this is really serious'. What the hell! If the first midwife had said to come in on Monday I would have been within the 72 hour cut-off for anti-d. So annoyed with the lack of consistency and still don't have an answer....
