Can I choose which Obstetrician I have on NHS?

Hi
After a fairly traumatic first birth leaving me with a fourth degree tear needing repair surgery again three months after DD1 was born, I was advised to have a c section with my next pregnancy. I am now pregnant again and have moved out of London so cannot travel to C&W. My question is if I go via NHS route which my GP has advised can I choose which obstetrician the midwife will refer me to?
Thanks for your help in advance
K

You can definitely choose which hospital you go to, and I was able to put in a request for a preference of Obstetrician. Don't know whether this is always the case, but it was for me.

I hope you have an easier time of it this time.

I had a third degree last time and so am consultant led. Having explained I'd quite like a home birth if poss, my MW has recommended the most natural-birth-friendly consultant in my hospital, so I'm sure if you asked your MW she could sign you up with someone specific.

Yes you can choose your consultant, I had the same consultant for my first 3 pregnancies then in this pregnancy I was given a new consultant. After I had my first meeting with her I took an instant dislike to her and asked my GP to change me back to the other consultant, he was brilliant I'm back on his list now . :D

You can choose your consultant but they wont necessarily be their for the birth, you will just be booked under their care.

I asked to change consultant as thecone I was allocated was not keen on active vbac, so I was changed to one who was.
