I'm 25 weeks into my second pregnancy and over the past fortnight have been in more and more discomfort, to the point where it was so uncomfortable to sit upright at work that I came home early. The stiffness and heaviness seem to radiate from my bottom and pubic bone up into my back and down into my upper thighs. But there's no pain as such - everything is very effortful. It feels as though the baby's head is engaged already.

Have been sleeping with a pillow between my legs and hope this is down to two long flights last week plus five hours in the car on Saturday, but it would be reassuring to hear that this kind of bad discomfort is normal... Should I ask to see a physio? Does massage help? Had nothing like it last time.

Hi Elpis, I'd make an appointment with your GP to get it checked out and they can refer you to a physio. I was given a support belt (didn't do much but the physio here is rubbish) it's worth seeing one just in case yours is a good one. Smile

And if it gets really bad acupuncture can help x

Hi Elpis, I'm 25+4 and I have this exactly (but with pain!).

I find not sitting on hard chairs (or if unavoidable, take a cushion and make sure you get up to walk around/make tea every hour) makes a big difference. Otherwise the pain in my tailbone is agonising. Sleeping with a pillow between my knees does help but I still often wake up in agony in the early morning and my left hip even clicks/crunches when I walk now Hmm

I'm going to see the MW about it next week - I've heard physio is a godsend and am going to push for a referral. It can take about 4 weeks to come through, though, I think; it would be worth you speaking to your MW or GP now as mine has gotten worse very quickly (I was in what I'd describe as "mild discomfort" at 22 weeks Shock ). Hope I haven't scared you :o

Thanks for these. It was much better today and I had a swim. Seeing a physio tomorrow - I normally have acupuncture every fortnight but my acupuncturist is away for five weeks. Think flight and long car journey really didn't help!
