I'm only 26 weeks but as there are a lot of sales on at the moment ive been thinking if there's anything I could buy for the early weeks post birth in the way of clothes for me.

This is my second pregnancy, I had an elcs with DD for a few medical reasons and I suspect I might end up having another this time (scans start at 32 weeks).

I cannot remember what I wore in the first few weeks at home post c section. I did have one pair of linen mat trousers which were comfy that I do remember.

Even what to wear in hospital? last time I was in for a week & think I lived in night shirts which I'd like to avoid this time to try and feel a bit more human I.e. get dressed if I can, even if it's only in vests and jogging trousers, but I'd be worried they'd irritate the wound.

I always thought I'd never forget those stressful early days but it turns out I have!

Big kidney warmer pants! Soft fabric trousers so no jeans and only stuff with waistbands waaaay above the scar. I lived in maternity leggings and high waisted, old lady style joggers. An attractive look but I didn't give a f*ck ! Good luck!

I am having my 3rd c-section in 13 weeks and I always take for hospital yoga trousers with th roll top waste because you can roll the, up in the first few days. After I find having them rolled over helps for car journeys as it has more protection. Also big high pants so they don't roll onto your scar. Birkenstocks or flip flops so you don't have to bend over. Vest tops for easy breast feeding and zip up top or cardigan, no pulling over your head and pulling your scar. First few days at home I wear maternity trousers but with my bump band underneath to protect my scar.

Oh I don't care how attractive they are, comfort all the way!

Oh yes, big pants, sadly that memory will never fade for me or DH), will just have to research who does the biggest these days.

What about yoga pants, are they any good, soft on the scar or annoying?

Xpost retromum thanks, where do you get your yoga trousers from?

Shower gel with a hook is my only top tip for hospital after I dropped my non hook gel in the shower and had a mini breakdown as I couldn't pick it up!

v comfy trousers

I found that M and S were really good for trousers like these - they're listed as PJ bottoms but would double as yoga pants etc. They are mega comfortable, very soft around the waistline and are a good compromise between PJs and getting dressed for visitors. I found that they were really useful to have in hospital and once we got home and as they're dark, relieved any worries about poss bleeding in the immediate post-natal period.

HTH and hope all goes well for you.

cairn thanks they do look really comfy, I'll pop into M&S and check them out. They look good for now too actually as they look like they've got room for 'expansion'.

Definitely good for expansion purposes (and I had polyhydramnios so was mega-bump sized). In fact I'm wearing a pair today 8 weeks afterwards and feeling most comfy!
