Engaged head?

This is my third pregnancy, currently 39+1 (although I do think I'm a week ahead of that given I'm certain of when we conceived).

With my 1st pregnancy, my DD's head did not engage until I was in established labour & had an elective CS with my ID twin DSs.

So, never have had the experience of what an engaged head feels like. Earlier today felt a lot of pressure in pelvic floor, although I thought I could feel below the baby's head in my pelvis.

Took the kids out & while walking about with them was feeling I needed to pee all the time. Really quite uncomfortable & pressure getting worse. Am only comfortable lying on my side. There's lots of pressure when I'm upright, and when I'm walking it feels like the contents of my pelvis are going to fall out! Not sure I can feel below the baby's head now either.

Does this sound like engagement? And if so, how long do I have to endure it before labour kicks in? Plan is for a VBAC. TIA.

Watching with interest... midwife said that DC2 is now very low down in pelvis, as did consultant at scan the other day (to the point where he really struggled to get any images of baby's face as right down and facing my back). I'm 35 weeks.

I know as it's a second it could still pop in and out but I don't remember DS1 being this low down, this early. Bump has dropped as well, several people have commented on that, and like you when I'm upright I'm getting lots of pressure, constantly feeling like I need to pee, and feeling as though everything's going to fall out when I'm walking.

Fingers crossed it's not long now for you!

Thanks benaberry.

Still quite uncomfortable and every time the baby moves I feel as if I might wet myself, even if I've just been to the loo! Confused

I hope that you manage to cope with the pressure better than I am; feel like I need to support my pelvic floor any time I walk at the minute! Hope things go well for the rest of your pregnancy.

Agree it's the loo thing especially that's uncomfortable - I've now lost count of the number of times I've been, and then by the time I've walked back to the lounge, feel as though I need to go again

Oh well, not long now I suppose!
