Well, what it says on the subject line I guess!

Found out on Monday and think I went into shock, have DSD (10), DD (6) and DS (3) and thought about having another but not for a good few years, and especially not 10 weeks before I have to fit into my uber figure hugging dress (and hen do & the most expensive holiday I have ever been on...ever!!!).....but DP over the moon and now I have picked myself off the floor I too, am really excited...........

HOWEVER....(this is where I need some advice) after reading stuff online (bad move there) I've read conflicting stories about having the coil removed early as it could cause a MC, or if you decide to leave it in it could brinG about early labour or a late MC. I'm just waiting to hear when my early scan will be as to make sure the pregnancy isn't eptopic; how long do you usually have to wait? And just to finish off I had 2 emergency C-Sections, will I automatically be booked in for a 3rd?

I haven't told a soul, not even my Mum Blush (who I tell everything to)....I don't know why.....maybe embarrasement that this has happened; feel like an irresponsible teen, even though they'll be so happy....(I think!! My house is an absolute mad house at the best of times so know they'll worry about my sanity!)

PS....have contacted dressmaker who assures me she'll be able to help me! Phew :-) Grin

I am off out now but thank you in advance for any advice; and Ill be back online this afternoon.

TenMinutesLate · 22/06/2012 10:24

Thankyou goingmad (do you mind if I nab your username :-)...) I'm sure it'll come together; it has to! Think I'll post this somewhere else later today and hopefully get some advice (usually much more sound than my drippy GP) xx

Hi there!
I'm in pretty much the same boat as you but a couple of weeks further on (no plans to get married though!) Found out I was pregnant (with copper coil) at 6 weeks - at first doctors said not to remove it because of risk but then last week (at about 10 weeks) they decided to whip it out quick and sent me on my way. It was literally the quickest lay down I ever had and they didn't seem at all concerned about any potential problems. I've had no bleeding or pain/discomfort since (not that I'd had any before) and I'm so knackered that I can only assume everything is fine with baby...
Twelve week dating scan next week - preparing myself to be shocked and surprised all over again Wink
No idea if having the coil removed was the 'right' think to do but thought I'd share my experience with you in case it helps. Also, I know how you feel about the 'irresponsible teenager' thing...
All the best and congratulations on your coming wedding x

I realised I was pregnant last week with an IUD at about 6 weeks. Went back to the clinic where I had it done. They said they would try to remove it if it was accessible. It came out super easy and she said that the pregnancy had probably pushed it down. So far all is going well (well apart from erratic appetite and breast pain). Totally paranoid obviously but reading the threads here I think that is pretty normal!

TenMinutesLate · 23/06/2012 19:46

Thank you So & Wheels, you have both put my mind at rest....mwah mwah!! Dreading the bloody thing coming out as it sure wasn't comfortable going in.....jeez, my DP must realise the snip is the only way forward after this!

I've chased the hospital and am now booked in for Tuesday afternoon; I'm sure everything will be fine (she says trying to remain cool, calm and collected.....) and I'll be able to report good news next week.

Thanks again ladies! Flowers

Hi Ten. On the CS issue, I had 2 EMCS with DD1 and DD2. I just had DD3 by ELCS, but that was my choice for several reasons I won't bore you with here! The hospital I went to is very pro-VBAC, and they did offer me a VBAC birth this time. I have been told that they had one woman who finally got her VBAC birth on the fifth try, after 4 CS. Another hospital near us (in a different county) won't offer VBAC after 2 CS - they send people who want one to the hospital I went to. I would therefore imagine it varies depending on the hospital, as well as your history and any other health factors, and would suggest that if you have a strong preference for ELCS or VBAC you do a bit of research (maybe phone the VBAC midwife to check their policies / attitude) so you can plan accordingly...

Glad your dressmaker can help with your wedding dress - I'm also a dressmaker, and yes, we are magicians!!!! Wink

Hope the coil removal goes well.

Oh, and congratulations!

TenMinutesLate · 23/06/2012 20:21

Catsy; I've just posted in childbirth but you've just answered my question! Congratulations on your 3rd......! I'm hyperventilating at the thought of someone saying that to me in 7 months....!

Must stop using exclamation marks!

My hospital are very VBAC focused, I believe they had the highest rate of csections in the county when I had DS, so going by what I was told last time I think I could be ok for VBAC but I'm just not sure what will be for the best. Plenty of time to think about it though, it's just I've got so much going on in my head (the dress, the dress, the dress!) I just would like some control over something.....FYI I'm a massive control freak so all this has completely left me dumbstruck :-)

Just to update, I had an internal scan at one hospital and then got told to go to another hospital to see a gynaecologist as the coil (damn blasted thing) looked a little close for comfort. So, trousers off yet again and an examination....(wished I had known....little behind on the waxing regime!!) and another scan but they couldn't see the threads so no hope of just pulling it out. They could of whipped it out with whatever instrument but it would of definitely cause a termination.

So its been decided that I'll be back in 2 weeks to see if it has moved down naturally. I have been told I am in the high risk for a miscarriage due to the positioning of the coil. (am blocking that nugget of information right out)

Have told our immediate family and they are over the moon, obviously worried and will be on tenterhooks, but I have a feeling everything is going to be ok. Don't get me wrong, I did well up in the hospital and then had a complete snot fest cry in the car park but ever the optimistic, I have high hopes Smile

I'll let you know how I go in a couple of weeks xxx
