I'm just wondering, quite a personal question, if you had much saved before baby arrived?
I'm going through a unplanned pregnancy, and have debts and am having to take early maternity. I have no savings and...... Guess what..... I'm panicking!

We had no savings and lots of debt when we fell pregnant and like you started panicking but we found that not socialising much and just planning our new life with baby helped us clear lots of debt and improve our finances for the long term.

We have no help with benefits just lots of hard work by dh and despite still having quite a few debts were ttc no 2 Smile

We have a small amount of savings - enough to be able to afford baby stuff and for a cushion if anything should happen (i.e. boiler breaking etc) but not masses. We're trying to save as much as we can while I'm still able to work - which is quite easy since I can't go to the pub anymore :o :o

We have no savings and a bit of debt, but have made a plan that should clear most of the debt (leaving just car loan and morgage) and leave us with a little bit of money after for emergencies! Also just got a 0% CC that will be put aside for big emergencies and can be paid off when I go back to work. I'm very obsessive about money, annoyes my DH no end, but I hate having no money!

No savings and lots of debts that we've been trying to cut back before I went on ML (on ML now and debts still seem far too high). Try not to panic, you will find a way (even if it doesn't seem so). Me and DH saved a fortune by frequenting freecycle for most of our essential baby items - you really don't need everything brand new and you'd be surprised at the great quality of things that people are happy to give to you for free. Also (the less fun bit) it would be sensible to look through your finances if you haven't already done so and work out a budget of what you can/can't afford.
